Right, after seeing fellow hop'er Oli show me how poi should be done i have been desparate to nail isolation's but the problem is, i cannot get my head around it, i mean i cannot comprehend where to start or the 'feeling' of the trick.
I have seen them done in 3beat rev weave, but is this the best way to start?
Summiong it all up i can see what the end product should be but i just don't know where to start. I hope this makes sense....
So does anyone have any tips on how to start and er....anything on these dammed isolations that would help me and probably a few others.

Thank you in anticipation

spinning with ropes er snakes helps too..not to mention you can actually see the isolation when it's on fire.

Although doing isolations with ropes is a bit hot!

I find just doing normal poi isolated removes all the hair from the back of my hands...

Rev: its months and months of mental torture, not only does the speed have to be right but you also got to maintain perfect circles with your hands to stop them collapsing. Its easier with socks because you dont have to be so exact, the streach lets you move in more vauge circles, but this dosnt help when it comes to doing chains (tho I did think of putting a small spring in my chains) so its best to use a heavy weight on a non-streachy string.

woop! I just did my first ever isolated buzzsaw! and it was using the Flids™!

I've actually been able to do it for months now, but it didn't work before. Same technique, but with heavier chains seems to work a treat, so my tip is to use heavier chains, i guess it helps momentum

Yep I agree Flid.

Couldn't do it for sh*t using my practice poi - then had a go on the aerotech's and it works a treat. Plus it looks prettier

I've nearly got the isolated buzzsaw fountain as well....whoooop wooooop

Just got to stop the ass wiggle and it'll all be OK.

i still can't do that.

note to self: *must work on reverse isolations*

trade secret for hels: its the ass wiggle that makes isolatons sexy - lose that and the move becomes pointless

What I meant by "I've nearly got isolated buzzsaw fountains" was....I did it *once* on Sunday morning when I was poi-ing like my life depended on it! But if I've done it once, I can do it again

It's doing the turn from forwards to backwards that's the killer

*lots* more practice needed!!

you just need an extra pair of hands cole then it's easy

still puzzled by these crosshanded isolations... getting about 4 before they collapse...

any help?

well I think I found the trick to learning isolations.... its all in the hyperloop... or at least those are the onyl ones that I can do at the moment... something about the hyperloop, maybe the change of pivot, does most of the work...

now I wish I spent more time learning hyperloops..

i rekon socks are pretty usefull for learning isolations as you can see the whole poi as they lock together in their turns. it looks wicked and the stretchyness of the material seems to help them flop over as well when u change the pivot...

i could only ever get four if i moved towards the ground while spinning it.
to abate the puzzlement i gave up trying.

worked a treat.

or maybe like your idea for isolated 44(pleX)1 you just need an extra pair of hands...

yes socks are good, the streach means that you dont have to follow the poi head exactly with your hands, you have a bit of lee-way.

The disagvantage of socks comes when you go to do them with fire, because all of a sudden you dont have that leeway, so once youve got the motion with socks, abandon them and move to cone poi, and tighten up your circles. then doing with fire, or even glowsticks becomes much easier.

Ok... I have to know... what kind of funky wiring resulted in the butt-wiggle when doing isolated buzzsaws?

can't say I have.. but I'll be damned if my ability to do a rev. buzzsaw isolation is directly proportional to my ability to shake that booty...
