I thought I'd title it that way in keeping with Simos' post about if anyone were to happen here they'd think we are kinky erotics.... winkAt any rate, I have been reading ALOT of comments about in order to do this move you must be a woman or in order to pull that off easy you have to be a woman. confusedOkay...I am a woman, so I don't get it.Are the differences really that great? Or is it more size and musculature related? Ie: men usually have broader shoulders, but narrower hips which would make me think that the low behind the back moves would be easier....right? I don't know if my body comes into play when I find a new move easy. I do know my flexibility does.Just curious as to insights since it is something I truly don't know about.

If yer talking behind the back moves, I don;t think sex makes that much difference. Maybe women tend to be more flexible than men, but I can do behind the back moves just fine. Then again, that was after almost five months of doing poi and nine of staff. Tends to limber one up a titch. Also, women tend to dance with their hips better than men, and I've noticed that behind the back moves require a lot of ass wigglin'.

well, i think both sex and body type determine your odds of getting behind the back moves. women are most definately more flexible- i don't know how many times i've heard from the guys "how in the world are you getting your arms to go that far behind you?" men have that v shape going on which makes it more difficult to wrench their arms behind them- and i think they only way around that is to do _alot_ of stretching excercises to build up flexibility. gymnists are a really great example of that. all of the men that i've seen doing behind the back stuff are lithe little things so they don't really have much bulk to get around. my advice to the guys who are having flexibility problems is this: after a good poi work out spend at least 10 minutes stretching out your shoulder areas, movements like clasping your hands behind your back and straightening out your arms behind you are great flexibility excercises.eenyway--- all things are possible!! keep at it!!flavio

hey Pele, i agree with Flavio on that i seriously believe that it's generally more difficult for guys to do btb moves...i think it's not about shoulders so much, my problem i think is the muscles of my back - when i try to cross my hands behind my back i feel them in the way, i dont know how to explain it but it's a problem; it's what Flavio said 'how in the world are you getting your arms to go that far behind you?'... and not only behind but to cross them behind my back is a big pain (and i am think i am quite flexible for a guy due to martial arts training)...so when i do the btb weave (or try to anyway) it's very difficult to have both of my hands crossed over far enough behind my back...oh well i think it's down to training training training i guess, happy swinging,Simos

no, sorry bobo - the spankings are only for very special women. you are going to have to work harder than just a short trip to berlin to fall into that category.

When have I stopped thinking about it? tongue I also have to think about a trip to Amsterdam, and spin with Mot and Nephtys smile But I already have two trips planned in the new year (France, and Austria/Italy, skiiiiiiiiiiiing biggrin) So it'll probably be after those, in the new year.

And I have been told by a certain Gidglet something about some drink that was really good. Or something. *forgets and would have to go look up PMs*

I do look at the dates. That's why I always spot it.

But other people don't.

If someone is going to bump something VERY old up, they could at least explain why.

I actually think that bumping up old opinion posts can be a bit odd since the person's opinion may have changed since then. People have bumped up my threads and responded to things I said 3 years ago as if I said it today. Like the fact that I have no real friends who do poi.

And some people do it just to be annoying.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.
