Hi, Im currently a medicine student in Sweden. I started firedancing in Cambodia 15 years ago and it has had a huge impact on my life.
I now live in the north of Sweden. Im a the leader of a new firedance circle in my city.
I was born in this town. Even though most people from Sweden would look at my picture and see an immigrant, it is not the case. Im in fact native. The discrimination and name calling that I have been through in this country is heartbreaking. Yet this is my country. I can only hope that the future will bring more equality. Since a few years a couple of males with different skin colours are breaking through as firedancers in Sweden. Hopefully the time will come, also for women that are not white or blond.
