Look, my Detroit homie's gettin' all political these days.

The new "Mosh" video is highly political and 'leaking' at just the right time before the election.

I'm going to his 'Shady Convention' secret concert on Thursday (If all goes well) and I'm curious as to what he'll say there.

I've always been an informed Eminem fan. I think he's a huge positive force in uncovering many unsaid negatives in our society. I'll even go as far as to say I think he's one of the most self reflective artists in any art form that I've seen.

It's probably strange for a 31 year old like myself to be endorsing such a 'pop' culture icon but as somebody who's sat down with most of his lyrics and also sees the amazing connection with and understanding of America's youth I have a great respect for him.

Sure, he's done some not-so-good things in the past, but much less than most celebrities. And I think the positives of exposing the chaos and rage in today's youth outweighs most of the negatives of the renegade style which he lives. I also think he got a bum rap as a 'bigot'. But maybe that's because I've read more of his lyrics than most.

Then again, anybody gettin' produced by Dre is gonna be hot. But that's just me.

Here are the lyrics:

***
Eminem
Mosh

VERSE 1:
Scrutinize every word, memorize every line
I spit it once, refuel re-energize and rewind
I give sight to the blind, my insight through the mind
I exercise my right to express what I feel inside
Its just all in your mind, what you interpret it as
I say to fight you take it as I'mma whip someone's ass
If you don't understand don't even bother to ask
A father who has grown up with a fatherless past
Who has blown up now to rap phenomenon that has
Or atleast shows no difficulty multi-taskin
And juggling both, perhaps mastered his craft, slash
Entrepenaur, who has helped launch a few more rap acts
Who has had a few obstacles thrown his way through the last half
Of his careeer, typical manur, moving past that
Mister kiss his ass crack, hes a class act
Rubberband man, yeah, he just snaps back

(Chorus)

Come along, follow me, as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark that we need, to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength, come with me, and I won't, steer you wrong
Give your faith and your trust, as I guide us through the fog, to the light at the end of the tunnel
We gon fight, we gon charge, we gon stomp, we gon march through the swamp, we gon mosh through the marsh, take us right
through the doors
Come on

VERSE 2:

All the people up top, on the side and the middle, from the ghetto, lets all form and stomp just a little
Just let it gradually build, from the front to the back
All you can see is a sea of people, some white and some black
Don’t matter what color, all that matters is we're gathered together
To celebrate for the same cause, no matter the weather
If it rains, let it rain, yeah the wetter the better
They ain’t gon’ stop us, they cant, were stronger now more then ever
They tell us no we say yeah, they tell us stop we say go
Rebel with a rebel yell, raise hell, we gon let em? No
Stomp, push, shove, mush... [censored] Bush, until they bring our troops home
Come On

Come on

VERSE 3:

Imagine it poorin, its rainin down on us, mosh pits outside the oval office
Someone’s tryin to tell us something, maybe this is god, just sayin we responsible
For this monster, this coward, that we have empowered
This is Bin Laden, look at his head noddin, how can we allow something like this, without pumpin our fists
Now, this is our, final hour
Let me, be the voice, in your strength and your choice, let me simplify the rhyme, just to amplify the noise
Tryin to amplify to times it, and multiply it by six-teen million people are equal at this high pitch
Maybe we can reach alqueda through my speech, let the president answer our high anarchy
Strap him with a AK-47, let him go fight his own war, let him impress daddy that way
No more blood for oil, we got our own battles to fight on our own soil, no more psychological warfare to trick us to thinking that we ain’t loyal
If we don’t serve our own country, we’re patronizing our hero
Look in his eyes, its all lies, the stars and stripes, have been swiped, washed out and wiped,
And replaced with his own face, mosh now or die, if I get sniped tonight, you’ll know why, cuz I told you to fight

Come on

(Epilogue)

And as we proceed to mosh through this desert storm
And these closing statements if they should argue
Let us beg to differ
As we set aside our differences
And assemble our own army
To disarm this weapon of mass destruction
That we call our president for the present
And mosh for the future of our generation
To speak and be heard
Mr. President, Mr. Senator

(children's voices: you guys hear us?)

Personally i dont like his music. But i think we can give him credit for making it out there as the first "white" rapper and he does have a good knowledge of america's youth. No racism meant by the white thing, it just what people label him as. So good on him for making it and actually making a difference in a way.

I always thought it was Dylan - Subterranean Homesick Blues confused

Liked the video - I'm not much of an eminem fan, but it was quite powerful.

And I remember Snow. But I never knew what he was talking about. Apart from "lickey-boom-boom-down" meant shooting someone. ubblol ubblol ubblol

I'm not saying ANYTHING about Eminem in here...anyone who helps defeat Bush gets credit from me, but I'm a gay man, so...

But Vanilla Ice was a different story. The fact that he was white was his ONLY selling point. Eminem is in a different league.

And talkin' blues, though clearly an ancestor of rap/hiphop, is not the same thing. So Dylan doesn't cut it, sorry.

My comment on the anti-gay language used in Em's songs is simply that it is VERY consistant with every other rapper out there.

Black Rappers have been using horribly offensive anti-gay language for years with a sadly small amount of repricussions.

If people were saying "Rap is bad because much of it is very anti gay" I'd agree more readily than "Eminem is anti-gay because he uses less offensive language than most rappers but is mainstream and therefore held to higher standards."

I've got more of an issue with ALL rappers that use hateful language equally. Not just the white ones.

I think Em is one of the more pro-gay rappers out there. If that makes any sense at all.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

First off, Em is very anti-gay - and thats him as a person and a rapper.

Having said that (but not becaure of that) I'm a big fan.

I didn't like mosh first time round but after seeing the vid I love it. Whoever made that video is going to go far...

and all you people from the US, please vote on tuesday.

Wow, that was a powerful video!
Often rappers' machisimo is clearly a product of the patriarchal system they come from... learn to look beyond the bullshit for the meat of the message... (same thing when reading Alistair Crowley , his sexism pisses me off so much!!! But as much as he makes me mad, there are meaningful things he wrote that keep coming back to me.) I can't just write someone off if I disagree with one aspect of their person, or I'll miss something important.

and speaking of Blood for Oil...
Do you ever feel a little guilt about having a hobby that uses fuel? Once in a while I get that feeling of being a part of the problem, ya know? Same but worse with driving....

So I spent most of yesterday at the exclusive Shady convention. Pretty damn fun. You may see it on MTV in the next few days. [Saw Em, D12, 50, Busta, Cyprus Hill, Dre, Method Man and just about everyone else including Donald Trump (who did the intro) but that's not my point]

I do think my stance on Em is a bit hypocritical. (Gasp) I guess I've always seen rap as REFLECTING the news on the streets [in a glorified way] which I'd always supported. Back in the day songs like "Cop Killer" and "F#ck the Police" were adequite reflections on some views of the police. I think much of rap is a reflection and report of the minds of urban life.

I can try support Em's message of radical self expression and cynicism and self reflection without accepting any level of intolerance.

As hypocritical as that sounds.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

I wouldn't accept intolerance either and it's great that you recognize it.
It seems to me that rap music is a reflection of a lifestyle, and also a manual for it.
I've been listening to Dead Presidents alot lately. For some reason they inspire me to work out and practice...

anywho, sounds like a big deal event and I'm glad you went and then told us about it!

meh. i cannot stand anything with a WPM/BPM ratio over 1/1. rap, hiphop, r&b, any of that i dont like. course, there are exceptions (stan and lose yourselfb y eminem), but in general, i despise the lot of it.

And i know that hardly any of the rappers write their own lyrics - most cant spell their name properly, so how the hell are they going to write a song?
