I still feel awkward organizing these kinds of things as I am no poi god...
When:
Saturday, September 7th. 1:00 PM
Where/How:
Washington Square Park in Downtown Manhattan. West 4th Street, One a few small blocks west of Broadway.
That's the A, C, E, F, V to west 4th and walk east. Or the N, R, to 8th street or 6 to Astor Place and walk south west. Or get off any train in the village and ask.
Why/What:
Just to meet other spinners and trade ideas/learn tricks/have company while practicing. I'd assume that we wouldn't do fire but do bring wicks and stuff to practice with. And don't be surprised/intimidated if it's just a few of us as many people who say that they'll go don't actually exist.
Oh, and to find me/us... I'll either be spinning poi or holding my poi while sitting and resting.
Er... I guess that's it. I look forward to meeting some more HoPers!

Once we can figure out some friendly venues out here on the island (unfortunately probably not the easiest thing here since the local govt is determined not to let anyone have fun after sunset) Clymeney and I want to set up some (at least) semi regular meets. There are a WHOLE lotta people here and it's a total shame to stay anonymous. Any ideas?

"Weekends are bad" is not a good sign...
We could meet up in your hood and spin practice poi during the day to avoid the LAW.
What's good for you? Keep in mind that I have a job during weekdays and others of us go to school.

My main (continuing) problem being that I have a fairly seriously sick friend out in Suffolk whose only source of regular hangout-age is the weekly Saturday Hunter game he GMs. Saturday early afternoons might be do-able if I can catch a ride out with Clymeney or somthing, but I have to be back fairly early.
My other problem being that I am deeply nocturnal and hauling my ass out of bed at the un-god/s-ly hour of 10 is pretty difficult *grin*
The specific saturday in question is just bad as we had both already planned to be upstate.
I shouldn't really say weekends are /bad/ but they are hinky as most of my friends (including my BF) live in Suffolk, so I tend to spend weekends there, but it's probably do-able with a bit of planning.

man if i would have known sooner i would deffinatly be down.....i havnt touched my chains in a while..... we should make another date when people could deffinatly make it....i really have no one to spin with unless i go to a club....

I think its the sealspace.org peeps putting it on again. Havent heard many deets. Its tentatively set for November 23rd. So we'd come down for the entire weekend (I hope) and it would rawk to play with fire with some New Yorkers.
In case you dont know, Burning Man decomps are pretty fire n poi friendly parties.
Also FYI the Toronto Decomp is coming up soon! Its only 8 hours away from NYC. Its going to be sooo fun! Email me for deets.
