The word 'Tonto' is used to refer to something/someone Extremely silly, or stupid, a chump, or imbecile etc... Generally a derogatory word...
'Pajero', whilst meaning W@nker, also means (in Central America) 'liar', or when used as an adjective means 'Fibbing'. Also in Central America, the same word can mean 'Plumber'

An american car company once sold a car in mexico where the name translated to "doens't go". Thats almost worse... I mean some people might want a car which has an attitude, but who wants a car which doesn't run!!!!

maybe not in the americas, but in spain it definitely means what i said it means...
i tried to translate my first french phrase(learned aged 6: le soleil brille, et les oiseaux chants dans les arbres) into spanish, and came up with
what should have been:
el sol esta brillante y los pajaros (sing..?) en los arboles (i think...)
the sun shines, and the birds are singing in the trees
what i said:
el sol esta brillando, y los pajeros estan cansado en los arboles
the sun is shiny, and the w*nkers are tiring in the trees
causing all around me to collapse with mirth...

I've discussed this with one of my Spanish friends who was teaching me to swear in Spanish. And yes, Pajero is w@nker. Apparently, when the car is sold in Spain, it's sold under a different name. Unfortunately.

I have a book of choice phrases in different languages and it says gilipollas is w@nker... Do they have more than one word for things. Darn greedy of you ask me.

Gilipollas is indeed 'A' word for that, but if you look up 'Pajero' you also get the same definition. Along with the others I gave above.
As for one word, many meanings... We do the same in english. It's a bit more difficult for us to notice, because we're used to their uses in context...
Look up the spanish word 'Puta', or it's masculine form 'Puto'. See how many different meanings you can come up with for that... In one context, it's the word for Whore. in another, it is simply emphasizing something, and is even safe enough to use on national (spanish) television Namely the News (I heard this to my surprise when watching it)...
I think renault have also misnamed a car, but it was one that was only released in France, so the name didn't matter so much because in France it had no 'second meaning'.
