I too don't like the threaded view after clicking email links...I find it better to just load the home page and find the thread I want rathe than follow the link...

I think threaded only works if everyone uses it when they reply to people, hence why I use flat

Ive also had links clicked from searches turning up in threaded mode, seemingly at random.

However I've found a way to forever ban the useless threaded mode from ever sullying my screen again

(save as flatonlyhop.user.js on your desktop, then drag'n'drop onto the firefox window after installing greasemonkey)

Any 'showthreaded' pages start to load up as normal, then the script catches them and loads up the flat version. Works from any link in firefox/email/bookmarks/history.

It's amazing the pranks you could do with this extension (Like changing the words 'Osama Bin Laden' to someone's name in every page they view). And it has loads of legitimate uses too.
