I spent all night scratching myself all over wondering what was wrong.
This morning I got my answer. No, I didn't pick something up off someone.
There's a large black fly in my apartment and the little winged motherlover has bit me about six times in various sensitive spots!
And so after bathing myself in benadryl cream, I'm finally comfortable.

i dont think we do. i remember reading about tsetse flies when i was a kid and freaking out.
but we have march flies which bite. and hurt.

i know how you feel
i have been stung 3 times this summer well in a matter of a week.
havent been stung since i was 5 by a wasp.
this year they seem out to get me.
stung on the arm, leg and lower eye lid
my eye has swollen up but is going down now
enticed, entrapped, entombed.
intoxicated, impaled, ingested.
bewitched, beaten, broken.

Horse flies are worse, its only the females who have the mouth parts to feed on animal blood...bitches.

Valura - tsetse flies only life in Africa so I don't think you've got them. Well, they live in a small room in Edinburgh too, but that's even further away.
I've never heard of them laying eggs under peoples skin. If that was tsetse flies then I must have some more reading up to do!
I remember learning about horse flies' mouth parts at school.
(This is a bit gory... sorry)
They're like a blender so they make a cross shaped cut in your skin, stick their blade-like mouth parts into you and whizz them round like a blender would. Then they can suck up the resulting mush. Kind of like human smoothie.
I think I'll go eat breakfast now

A couple years ago my face was practically eaten by black flies. But when they bite you, you can't feel it, so I never knew I was being bitten! After a day in the bush, on the left side of my face and neck alone there were more than 25 black fly bites. Apparently they were all pretty bloody and gory too, but as I said, I didn't feel any of the bites!!
