have made several enquiries to locate any of my clients extended relatives

I am contacting you to assist in repatriating the money and properties left
behind by my client before they get confiscated or declared unserviceable by
the finance house where these funds were deposited. Particularly, the
finance house where the deceased has an account valued $USD18 Million
Dollars, last year issued me a 12 months notice to provide the Next of Kin
or have the fund consignment confiscated,and this altimatum expires by next
month.
Since I have been unsuccessful in locating the relatives for over two years
now, I seek your consent to present you as the Next of Kin of the deceased
since you have the same last name so that the proceed of this deposit valued

I usually get a couple of these a day, I've just been deleting them within a couple of seconds of reading opening sentence - or in some cases just the subject.
examples are
"for God's greater glory I want to give away hundreds of thousands of ..."
"I'm an official of..."
"I want to give you lots of money for doing next to nothing except using your bank account.."
"You won the lottery for..."
I did get that cheque one too Firetramp.
Pretty much every day...
Always work on the theory already stated - if it sounds too good to be true - it probably is.

His other Soviet crew members returned to earth on the Soyuz T-16Z, but his place was taken up by return cargo. There have been occasional Progrez supply flights to keep him going since that time. He is in good humor, but wants to come home.
In the 14-years since he has been on the station, he has accumulated flight pay and interest amounting to almost $ 15,000,000 American Dollars. This is held in a trust at the Lagos National Savings and Trust Association. If we can obtain access to this money, we can place a down payment with the Russian Space Authorities for a Soyuz return flight to bring him back to Earth. I am told this will cost $ 3,000,000 American Dollars. In order to access the his trust fund we need your assistance.
Consequently, my colleagues and I are willing to transfer the total amount to your account or subsequent disbursement, since we as civil servants are prohibited by the Code of Conduct Bureau (Civil Service Laws) from opening and/ or operating foreign accounts in our names.
Needless to say, the trust reposed on you at this juncture is enormous. In return, we have agreed to offer you 20 percent of the transferred sum, while 10 percent shall be set aside for incidental expenses (internal and external) between the parties in the course of the transaction. You will be mandated to remit the balance 70 percent to other accounts in due course.

Last week I had a mail, presumably from my bank, saying to update my online banking details. There was a link to a perfect copy of the bank website where I'd normally log in. I called the bank and they said they hadn't send that and would never send anything to my e-mail account anyway.
So, be very careful with those!

I want a church or individual that will use this money to fund churches, Orphanages and Widows. Also, the propagation of the work of God, building and maintaining the house of God through this money, is very important.

Anyway, i got an email this morning informing me that I had won the South Africa 2010 World Cup.
The title of the email was: "YOU HAVE WON SOUTH AFRICA 2010 WORLD CUP SPONSORED BY CANADIAN EMAIL LOTTERY"
I reminded them that if they are going to attempt scam emails, at least have the brains to masks the originating IP address so I couldnt actually trace where the email had come from ( ). I told them that I had forwarded the email to the Met Police's advanced Fee fraud squad (it does exist). I also asked them what their mother would say if she knew they were doing this.
I dont expect a reply.

i opened up my inbox a few moments ago and had the usuals "please read" "looking for long lost relativs" etc........................there where also some supposedly from barclays bank
for starters blarclays have never and will never have my email address, it's bad enough when someone in a call center calls up wanting to know if i would like a load,a credit card etc

Hey Guy - that's awesome! although I am appalled that the assassins these days seem to be restricted in the use of good grammar - they seem to be missing the space bar on their super assassin computer! Little things like the inclusion of "whom" and then ruining it with the singular when a plural is called for etc.
It makes me sad for the modern world. I did however feel comforted by the "if you appreciate and love your existence" bit.

Hey Guy - that's awesome! although I am appalled that the assassins these days seem to be restricted in the use of good grammar - they seem to be missing the space bar on their super assassin computer! Little things like the inclusion of "whom" and then ruining it with the singular when a plural is called for etc.
It makes me sad for the modern world. I did however feel comforted by the "if you appreciate and love your existence" bit.

That's great. If their skills at assassination are anywhere near on par with their grammar, you should be alright. You'll hear them coming from a long way away and will probably try and introduce themselves to you and show you their cool guns. They might even let you hold one or two of their weapons before they spring to attack...
