i learned the weave at kats house at a party sometime in september 2003. it was me and ucof standing in the living room, drinking magical mash-up tea and me hitting myself and ppl around me for an hour till i got it.

I printed out the instructions for the weave from HOP went into my back garden n after about ten mins of head punching frustration it seemed to just click. THEN i tried it backwards and it was automatic, was weird. this was all about a month or so ago. before then i was doing this crappy alternating one poi on each side thing i THOUGHT looked ace till i saw the vid of the weave n went AH THATS what i'm sposed to do. from the first time i did the weave it seemed so natural that i couldn't remember how to do what i was doing before! odd huh?

It's smashing to be back x

first time i did the weave was about 3 years ago at sidmouth folk festival, devon. I was in the festival dance house and some guy was doin poi on the dance floor, my sister went and had a go first then i had a go and at the end of the night bought some poi off him that he'd made out of an old tent, i still have them i'll probably keep them forever cus they were my first. By the next day i was successfully doing the weave without too many injuries woohoo. clap

I did it with flags sometime in March of '01 in my back yard in grad school. First time I ever picked up poi, I had a 2-beat weave instantly. 3-beat took a bit longer to nail, but I did it in that same back yard.

I was always scared with my mother's obsession with the good scissors. It made me wonder if there were evil scissors lurking in the house somewhere.

I had the three beat weave down on first try. But I did have to work on that butterfly for a while

At Confluence Park at Sunday Spin, not long after i'd started spinning.
I'd been loving the weave, trying and trying to figure it out, and only realising after i lit up that i'd been doing it for a few weeks. It looks different when someone else is doing it...

Umm.. in a poi meet organised by Dunedin spinning club.. 2 years ish ago,
It seriously took me nearly 6 months from the time someone showed me, for anyone who thinks *they* were slow.. Got the reverse about 2 weeks later, in a hostel in Blenheim while drunk, and covered in bruises.
