like most other threads on HoP, this has probly been asked before, but i didnt see it on the first page of social chat so therefore its outdated tongue

one of mine would have to be Donnie Darko.. i think anemone would agree with me if he ever reads this..
another is Waking Life..

i love those kinds of movies, where you just sit and discuss the meaning of it for an hour and a half after its over..wow

reactions??

hey brain, just out of curiosity.. what about di caprio do you not like?

i know he is sexy and attracts all the ladies, but that cant be the reason right? or can it tongue and i know a lot of movies he plays in are crap, like love and something, and that his best talent when it comes to acting is crying and for that reason might seem a bit like a wus (cant say it otherwise on hop biggrin ) but overall hes a good actor..(now im just looking at acting, not movies on the whole) the beach, basketball diaries, man in the iron mask..

in case youre wondering why i like him, ill tell you..
no, im not gay and i dont like him cuz hes a stud.. hes an amazing cryer, which is very hard to do.. heres another example.. in the scene in romeo and juliet where he goes after tybalt when tybalt killed mercutio, the hate and anger that are projected out of his eyes is just stunning.. in the beach, his ability to be so incredibly spaced is very realistic (hihi, personal experience with *ahemsubstancesahem* peace) sure, hes not johnny depp, or edward norton, but hes not some Brated p*rn movie plumber either...
now, why dont youlike him? and nothing like "he sucks" please.. id like a proper answer

I watch many movies and the top 3 recent movies (like a year) I've seen is:
1. Lost in Translation (just got to love the slow pace and the Japanese culture conflict)
2. Shawshank Redemption (oldie but goldie)
3. Butterfly effect (dark film that makes you feel good anyway)

Going to the theatre I like seeing more spectacular movies like the ring trilogy or Spiderman.

1. Yeah defo Lost in Translation, the differences in colors and volume between the scenes in Tokyo and when Bill Murray's character's on his own are just amazing...

2. Hero - beautiful!

3. Saw the irish movie "The Halo Effect" yesterday - didn't know anything about it when I bought the ticket and was REALLY amazed - a great movie and nice portrait of the city Dublin biggrin

4. American Beauty still fascinates me - my all time fav

(P.S.: I have to admit: Leo is a pretty good actor - he was brilliant in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" biggrin)

Ok now then favourite film of all time I would have to say confused

One flew Over the cuckoo’s Nest ubblove

Jack Nicholson best performance I think you all have to agree smile makes me cry so much every time I watch it which I have done several million times now. biggrin

Best film I saw within the last 2 years that would have to be K-pax. Think this is one of the only films that actually does the book justice it is just like getting the story form a different perspective just adds to the overall enjoyment. “which was nice ubbidea

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is one of my all-time fav's too! i was in London 2 weeks ago with my mam, & we went to see the play in the west end with Christian Slater in the role of McMurphy. excellent! highly recommended!

K-pax is another great film. my fav scene is when Kevin Spacey turns around and says "Every being in the universe knows right from wrong".... makes so much sense to me.....

other's at the top of the list would have to be....

LOTR 1, 2 & 3
The Deer Hunter
Apocalypse Now
The Godfather (all 3)
On the Waterfront
Requiem for a Dream
Jackie Browne
Excalibur
Goodfellas
Taxi Driver

i'm a sucker for de Niro ubblove

My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely smile

It's old and perhaps not brilliant, but I can watch it over and over and have just about worn out my copy of it. It can make me smile, feel a bit more empowered and makes me a bit more hopeful.

I have to agree I thought Leo was good in Basketball Diaries. He was amazing in What's Eating Gilbert Grape? though he hasn't been quite as good since.

And as far as comedies go, "The Princess Bride" is always a classic!! biggrin

I think everyone should know that Borath is being a little less than honest here.

Come on, we all know your favourite film, your most worn tape, is Muppets' Christmas Carol. That's why it had to be replaced with a sturdier DVD wink
