So here I am again. It's been a while hasn't it. My alto sax initially got a lot of use. Funny isn't it, how a fulltime job takes away all your spare time. Haven't had any time to poi too, apart from Jugglejam on Mondays and the monthly Moonfests. And even then, it somehow seems I tend to play with the stockwhip instead of poi shrug

Another lens has been added to the stable too. A Canon EF-S 10-22 3.5-4.5.. nice and wiide. But it all boils back down to that time issue. Despite having the new lens, I seem to find I'm out taking less pictures.. the folio hasn't been updated in a while, and I'm starting to get the horrible feeling I'm stagnating. Must. Get out of this rut.

If you're my muse and reading this, inspiration needed now. hug

-Edited 14 Dec 2005-

I liken this to opening the fridge to find that jar of misc what's it, several months expired ubblol. Hey how's it going? wave

So what's new! Well.. poi's getting a bit better for one thing. Nice how after poi-ing for a while, you stop hitting yourself senseless. In fact, one might argue how after a certain point, each hit puts more sense into you.. wink Haven't gone skating or rockclimbing in a bit, but that's ok- life's full of wonderful distractions, and really, you can only do a couple at a time.

University's just wrapped up! Yep. A degree in art & visual culture, television & digital media.. Just waiting for a piece of paper at the moment (yay!). And trying to sort out how Australia will let me live here forever and ever biggrin. Have I mentioned how wonderful it is, you so ought to visit *nudge* wink Also been getting out the with photography and stuff- a couple of projects to follow up on, blue skies and puffy clouds as far as I can see.

Updates updates. [insert geek] I've updated my camera gear too.. my 20D, 17-85 4-5.6 IS and 580EX now have a 70-200 2.8L IS to play with.. soon too, riding on getting a particular gig, either a 350D and a 24-105 f4 IS, or another 20D.. -grin- [/end geek]

[edit 14/12/05: Gig didn't go through, and ended up performing at it instead of shooting it ubblol Life has a funny way of messing you about doesn't it.. so no 2nd body for me just yet, or nice 24-105 f4 IS redface]

Been taking lots of photos lately. I think there's something intrinsically beautiful in capturing moments- you know how you look at a photo and it brings you back to where you were that day, who you were with, how the air smelt even.. Maybe one day I'll get to exhibit ubblove.. but yeah.. lots of work to be done meantime.

Hmmmm.. yes the world's beautiful today. It's good to have new toys, new moves, new direction.. old friends hug.. a best friend hug2, and enough distractions not to get bored for too long.

Btw.. favourite words haven't changed.. ubbrollsmile And mm.. I'm still not too close to balletic, and dulcet..

Hmm.. la la la laaa squawk.. footinmouth

[edit 14/12/05: I now have a beautiful alto saxophone- the best use of which I have thus far found, is to attract ducks and other misc waterfowl]

Yep, how about we say still aspiring. biggrin

Hope all's well with everyone- don't be strangers now! hug biggrin

I've been exploring this site a bit lately, and have decided everyone seems like a nice bunch- thought it's about time I said hello. Ryan, 24, born in Singapore, but Brisbane Australia has been home to me for the past 3 years.

I love photography, playing the guitar (if one took a picture of me with my guitar, it looks like I'm playing it- does that count?), getting from point A to B on my trusty mountain bike, inline skating and hockey, occasionally rockclimbing, and just being in good company. I'd also like to add poiing to the list when I stop hitting myself senseless.

Irrelevantly, my two favourite words (I've got heaps if anyone's interested) are 'balletic' and 'dulcet'. 'Balletic', unfortunately, isn't a word I'd use to describe anything I can do, and 'dulcet' is a word I haven't dreamt of aspiring towards yet.

Enough for now, don't be strangers! biggrin

hi Ry!

Hey by the way I spotted a Canon 350D for $1498 with TWIN lens kit the other day, 18-55 & 75-300. Bargain. Helluva lot cheaper than I got mine for 6 months ago. BUt I really really love it. Its so beautiful. Actually I think I love it a bit too much.

gita: Brilliant. ubblol 30 egg whites- we could have probably filled one carton.. which'd make roughly 2 standard drinks for a muscley type.. ubblol I don't feel so good..

Gnor: An egg white dispenser! eek So let's have it. Who's into muscley types? ubblol

Funny you should be talking about boots. Had a random boot conversation yesterday (or the day before). Wasn't glittery though.. more like knee high ubblol ubbangel

Jo: mmm.. There are a couple of those kits going around. Not the best lenses bundled (You can refer to the MTF charts on https://www.photodo.com/nav/prodindex.html.
But if one must get one of those kits, get one with the canon lenses instead of the sigma ones), but I they're a relatively affordable way to cover the focal lengths.

For someone starting out though, I'd recommend getting the body and a better single lens (a fast or stabilised zoom; primes are cheaper generally, but the fixed focal length sometimes is a bit troublesome) for the same money instead though.. it won't cover the lengths, but the better quality/capability optics will give you a lot more keepers from all the shots.

Btw! Didn't know you bought a 350D! That's super! Don't forget to bring it to CG! You are going to CG yes? And no. You can't love camera gear too much wink

Together with an onion, some curry powder, some coconut milk, some brocolli and tomato paste- that made a pretty good curry.

I've got more chicken breast in the fridge though, any recipes will be next on the queue if approved ubblol

How does Lemon Chicken Schnitzels sound?

I am on to my fifth day without a damn voice....I ruined my vocal chords coughing my lungs out with a flu....I have this very weird sounding squeeky sound coming out of my mouth when I talk....everyone thinks it is hilarious! ubblol

hmmm....okay Schnitzels:

Pound Chicken till relitevly flat (but not too flat cause then they won't be nice and succulent!)
Coat in Cornflour.

In a bowl mix Egg, some parsley, a tablespoon of lemon rind a tablespoon and a tablespoon of lemon juice (I usually put an extra half tablespoon for a bit more tang or a full extra tablespoon for a nice zing). Salt and Pepper to taste too.
Dip chicken in egg mix and then coat in breadcrumbs.

In a pan heat some olive oil (try to make sure that there is enough to totally coat the bottom of the pan as if it is a light layer the breadcrumbs burn)....wait till it is hot so add a few breadcrumbs and if they bubble it is good if it sits doing nothing too cold still!) Fry the breasts on one side for about five minutes or till nicely golden then turn and same again. Drain on paper and serve hot with a nice salad...

Sooo yummy....(serve with lemon wedges too as then you can add more zing)

You can also do a nice easy salsa to go with it:

Chop some garlic (finely).
Chop onion finely
Chop some tomato (you can peel it or not it doesn't really matter!)

In a pan fry the onion with the garlic till the onion is clear then add the tomato, salt and pepper and stir till a consistancy you think you will like and serve!

Easy!!!!!

Juice of half a lemon
Salt n Pepper
Handful fresh corriander -finely chopped
knob of fresh ginger (finely diced or crushed)

Mix peanut butter will gradual amounts of yoghurt (like you do with cocoa powder and milk) gradually add the other non-chicken ingredients in amounts YOU see fit and mix until a smooth sauce forms. Add the diced chicken and use your hands to mix everything up until you feel the chicken is evenly coated. Leave to marinate in the fridge for a few hours. You have no idea how incredibly appetising that sounds about now. Just got back from moonfest and I'm so famished I'm contemplating making some food now (despite it being half past 1..)

So. Next shopping list includes breadcrumbs, lemon, parsley, an onion, and a couple of tomatos. ubblove

Will let you know how it goes!

In other news. I've just had possibly the biggest scare of my life. Was driving up to moonfest with Biggins in his van, and we made a sharp turn somewhere, my travelpack swung across the inside (a wooden elevated platform), hit the door, which I swear was locked- door slides open, travelpack hits and tumbles across the road, stopping at the curb.

Contents of travelpack.
-Picnic rug
-Acrylic CJ ball
-A couple pairs of sock poi
-Glow poi
-Phone
-A $500 point and shoot digital camera
-$450 Portable 80gb storage device (like an external harddrive)
-A $180 tripod, $150 tripod head, $150 monopod
-My main camera kit (2 lenses, a flash, camera body and battery grip- uninsured, approx $7000 to replace)

Good thing, no cars were behind and it didn't happen on the expressway (the only reason we were on this road is because we had gone off track, and should have been on the expressway.

Good news, the lenses are fine (at first glance). Camera seemed to work, but upon later inspection, 2 buttons didn't seem to work. Was more than pissed off because I'm looking for a job, and any parttime income for the timebeing depends on the camera. Decided to leave it for a bit and check later. Now camera seems to be fine, but the connection between the camera and the battery grip seems to be a bit dodgy.

Very glad the lenses are fine, because if they're broken, it would mean paying for a new one. Everything else seems ok so far. I think the travelpack might have landed on the very heavily padded strap/harness side. If anyone wants a travelpack recommendation, Berghaus Spirit 70+15l. ubblove

And I may have a couple of moonfest pics to upload.

*thinks of the closing scene of Monty Python's Life of Brian ubbrollsmile*

Hope everyone's doing well! grouphug Especially you, Fi! hug
