Hello,

I'm planning to build an "eternal flame" for the Fire Conclave at Afrikaburn. The group has decided that it will essentially be a paraffin fueled lantern, in a decorative structure, with a big flame.

I've been looking at options for the wick. Obviously it can't be a normal lantern wick, because that's too small. I was thinking of either using a thick cotton rope, or possibly a 25mm thick kevlar rope.

Has anyone ever tried using kevlar wick for a lantern? One thing I'm wondering, is how much wick would I need for the flame to keep burning for 5 days straight? Would a single meter be enough?

Thanks everyone smile
