We will be meeting at 5ish at the bandstand, then moving on to the main field.
For anyone who is unsure where to go, just email or pm me and i'll help out as much as i can.
Hope to see plenty of people there, Thanx, Astrofaerie.

The date for the next PiP is Sat 27th Sept.
Hope to see people there.

Guidelines for Rotherham PIP.

Firstly, we want to make it clear that anyone is welcome at Rotherham PIP as long as they are respectful of us and our attitudes.

We try to keep the PIP as informal as possible, and each of the following guidelines have come into being as a result of situations we have had to deal with at past PIP's.

1. Please try and turn up in daylight.

2. Whilst we assume no responsibility for the behaviour of individuals at the event, we are safety conscious and so we are not happy about: -

People spinning whilst under the influence of drink/drugs.

Fire breathing.

3. If you are an experienced fire spinner please bring some fuel (paraffin only). Any safety devices, fire extinguisher, fire blanket, water would be appreciated. Other useful items are: -

Torches and bin bag for cleaning up rubbish.

If you are experienced and safety conscious you will understand that we would like to see that displayed with non-fire equipment before you light up. I'm sure you'll be as aware as we are that some people vastly exaggerate their spinning ability.

4. Please understand that if we seem reluctant to lend out some of the advanced equipment that we have good reason i.e. fire rope poi are not safe for beginners, some of the electric stuff is expensive. It's a pain for us to have to keep an eye on everything when we also want to spin.

If you agree with these guidelines then feel welcome to turn up.

If you disagree with any of them for whatever reason then it would be best to stay away or find another group.

We are not trying to impose our opinions on anyone, simply making clear what we, as a group are happy and unhappy with.

These guidelines have been drawn up as a result of concerns within the group. Thanks to everyone for their input, and thanks Dave for your forward thinking. Hopefully this community shall remain a fun and safe one.

Due to the Sheffield PiP being made for the same date as the Rotherham one, this one is gonna have to be moved so that it doesn't clash date - wise. So the Rotherham PiP is now gonna be moved to the 4th October. Sorry for the inconvenience. Hope to see some new faces.

This months PiP set for the 4th Oct is now cancelled . I apologise to anyone who was planning on coming.
Obviously as the nights draw nearer its going to be difficult to use the daytime to spin while people have jobs over the weekend etc. And as you might realise its nicer to be able to meet new people during the daytime. But this has been discussed and we have come up with the idea of having a couple of designated fire nights over the coming autumn and winter instead and resuming the Rotherham PiP in the spring. If people were to each bring an item of food for a big bar-b-q, or a drink or even lighting it could turn out to be a really friendly fun night. Nice atmosphere, good music, food, company etc. So plenty of ideas and suggestions would be really welcome. I will let people know of the days nearer the time, look forward to hearing suggestions and stuff.

How about arranging for some kind of workshop eg basic 3 ball juggling, or, for poi, maybe a four beat.

It seems to work well at the local juggling club and will maybe inspire people to turn up, if they know there's going to be a workshop in something they want to learn.

I would be happy to do a beginners poi workshop if people are interested, if you would be happy to teach a spot of juggling that would be fantastic too. Great idea Dave.

Well, not long till winter is over and spring is well on its way.

Therefore i am trying to plan the next Rotherham poiinthepark meet.

I was thinking of making it Sat 27th March.

I would like some input on whens best for people, if you are happy/unhappy about the set date, please let me know.

Hope to see more people this year, as last year it was left till late summer, so the turn outs werent very big.

It would be nice to see some new faces this year, its not difficult to get to, any problems you have with directions can easily be solved by asking me, or any others you know who live nearby.

Thanks guys. biggrin ubbrollsmile

UPDATE:

I went past the park entrance tonight and it seems that they have started to lock up the car park at night, which means alternative parking needs to be found on nearby streets if you are arriving by car. There is a road running along the back of the park which is good for parking. Any probs contact me by pm or via this thread. Ta.

The Rotherham PiP for this month has been cancelled/postponed.
The reason is due to a lack of interest.
I have found out tonight that no-one who was planning to come can make it this month.
It was to start at 5pm, which meant i would be at the park for 5:45 after work, but i would be alone, waiting to see if anyone was to turn up, in the dark.
From a personal safety point of view, i simply do not feel comfortable with that.
I hope that any of you that were planning on coming can understand my reason for this.
If you were planning to attend, then i sincerely apologise for having to do this, i myself was looking forward to this event, but im certainly not comfortable waiting in a dark park alone, just to wait and see.
If anyone has any comments feel free to pm me.
This does not mean that the PiP will not return, i plan on arranging one nearer to the summer months, as it stays light longer, and this safety is greater.
Once again i sincerely apologise to any of you who do not get this message in time. It wasnt what i expected either.
Hope to see people in the warmer months.

Well hmmmmm, didnt realise there were so many festivals happening, glasto last week, peace in the park this weekend, but.........poiinthepark for rotherham is still on due to the fact it has already been postponed once this month already!
if u fancy a spin your more than welcome, it would be really good to get some decent turn outs sometime this summer as i would like to encourage as many people from rotherham and surrounding areas to give new things a try.
Once again i will be on-hand to help anyone who needs it if they are wanting to learn poi.
It would be great to see some of u i havent seen for ages too, it would be really good to see some of the sheffield spinners at a rotherham event!
Cheers, Ali.

Due to low demand, the poiinthepark in rotherham will no longer be a monthly event. If people want a meet then i will be more than happy to post it on here, but the regular monthly meet will not be happening from this month onwards.

If people want an hours poi tuition for beginners/intermediate on a saturday, then id be happy to do that, so please contact me.

Thanx for the people who have showed these past many months.
