![]() You make this look so effortless, and I was busting my butt trying to figure it out last night! |

![]() I can't seem to get the hang of this...espesh the 2nd part of the video. Anyone kind enough to write a detailed explanation? |

![]() I need help on this please |
Crash19 Member #79315 Reged: Sep 2008 |
![]() I am having an equally challenging time on this. I've spent several hours trying to get it down and the challenge is making me just frustrated enough to not give up but a more in depth description would be appropriate. |

![]() I figured it out!!! Horray... Ok this is what ya gotta do start in the backwards butterfly postion and master the backwards thread the needle . If you remember playing double dutch with jump ropes when you were small this will help. |

![]() Uh... wait... I'm new to this, but I don't see how you can possibly spin both hands in front of you in opposite directions without getting tangled. Something I'm missing? |

![]() I'm with Trevor, not quite sure how to spin both of them in front of me without tangling them. Any pointers? |
mefca Member #94903 Reged: Jul 2009 |
![]() Hey trevor, This looks really complicated but it's simply a variant on the forward spin. Try starting with just one Poi in your hand like she does and spinning it in front of you, do this with both hands individually to get a feel for it. When you feel comfortable trying it individually take both Poi and start doing a simple forward spin, then start slowly moving your hands to the front. When i do this i put my right hand slightly above my left, The illusion is that they are right next to each other, but in fact one is in front of the other. this allows the chains or ropes to overlap eachother instead of colliding and getting tangled. Another way to try this is to start out by doing the forward split time spin and bring it to the front, you'll have less of a chance of them colliding because they'll be in front at differen't times, but you'll still be able to get a feel for having the Poi in front of you. Good luck! |

![]() isn't this just like hip reels? |
Scathe Flesh Member #98367 Reged: Sep 2009 |
![]() Essentially yes, it seems like a variant of low reels and the butterfly. |

![]() This move taught me that while fluffy Poi don't hurt, their buckles do, and I have a nice big sore spot on top of my head to prove it. Still working on getting the hang of it, darn low ceiling. |

![]() i found that this move is easier done from the reverse butterfly. it helps alot if you already know the behind the back butterlies, because you basically do the transition from front to behind the back simultaniously |

![]() i would just like to say that i am REALLY glad i'm using Sock Poi. =\ i'd already be in the hospital by now if i weren't... and i just started doing this today. |

![]() Does anybody else think this lady goes too fast when spinning examples? |
onewhoisrad Member #137019 Reged: Aug 2011 |
![]() at second 13 and 14, how does she swing in opposite directions at same time twoards eachother? |
Elin_Stensdotter Member #136111 Reged: Jul 2011 |
![]() Isnt she doing forward swing in the beginning and backwards in the end..where she stands with back to us? she doesnt say anything bout it but i cant work it out otherwise? |

![]() I think my greatest problem is my wrist movements. I don't roll my hands like she does, I'm too rigid. |

![]() Both wrists are upside down when the Poi is behind you. So palms facing the sky. A good stretch for this is holding your hand out in front of you, palms down, bend your fingers in like you are trying to touch the tips of your fingers to the inside of your wrist. (Instead of making a fist, extend your fingers.) You have to find the transition from regular front plane spinning into the flip behind your back. Once you have the hand placement down, its fairly simple. |

![]() I can do this movement without using the butterfly movement in between |
