Anyone ever hear of Jimsonweed? It's apparently this plant that kids eat or make tea out of to get high.

DON'T DO IT. Tonight we had a 17 year old male come in to the ER due to having taken this stuff. He was red as a lobster, dry as a bone, with a heart rate of 160 and a blood pressure of 210/150. Not good.

He got loaded up with sedatives, paralyzed with drugs, got a tube shoved down his throat into his lungs, another shoved through his nose into his stomach, and (this is my favorite), a tube shoved up his hoodilly into his bladder.

The plant has a chemical in it that's similar to atropine in the way that it works on the body. It's was pretty spectacular. He's going to be fine, but he's REALLY lucky.

Jimsonweed. BAD NEWS. DON'T try it.

Some people should read into drugs instead of just doing it with out knowing how much to take.
where i live there is a plant called heavenly blue morning glory. Now this nastly little plant produces seeds cointaining LSA a drug simular to lsd. a friend of mine didn't know how much to take of the seeds. usally it takes probably about 50 to 150 seeds to get you pretty much trippin, my friend ate about 300 of them and tripped the F@ck out. the problem with todays youth is they jump before they think, one exaple i recall is when i went to a friends party most of the kids there were wasted by drink to much, the other half were wasted becasue they smoked allot of weed mixed with speed.

yeah fireboy, i agree totally.

But to go on about the iguana: these vegans I complained about in the vegetarian thread made spacecake and threw away the leftover cannabis leaves and butter. Their dog Tanja ate it from the compost bin and she was stoned about a whole day! She waggled through the kitchen with a totally amazed look in her eyes, wondering how that table and that chair could act so funny, she looked even more stupid than othertimes. ubbrollsmile

i have a friend who "boxed" his cat....stuck him in a box and blew marijuana smoke into it. the cat is now a total stoner. he even named him rip van bong hit.

i have two other friends whose cat stole a half a pill of extasy off their dresser and ate it. the cat is completely roll-tarded now

ya you could totally tell the difference with the cats. one cat turned into a stoner completely (he actually started going back into the box to get more). and the other was totally skittish and seemed like it was rolling all the time

Okay, off-topic stoned-cat story: One time my cat had to go on medication 'cause she had territorial problems, but, thing was, we got the wrong directions with the pills and ended up giving her wa-a-ay too much... Totally made her ubbloco. I woke up the next morning as she was trying to dig a hole in the kitchen sink, then she scampered away to meow loudly at the toaster...

She's all right now, though... Well, as near as she can get to being all right.

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

ANIMALS ON DRUGS

sick and twisted? or are they allowed to have fun too....

nice story smile when i was staying in a squat in barcelona we had 2kittens whos mother had died, they were very sick -one worse than the other and we couldnt afford to takem to the vets but whenever anyone smoked joints they would climb on there lap and breath as much as poss. i reckon it worked asa pain releaf and im happy we could give them that(the very sick one did die but the other lived and still does as far as i know -he also is now the biggest catnip dealer around ubbloco)

bad story frown one of my best friends hadan after party and a girl noone really knew fed my friends(few months old) puppy dog an ecstacy... the results were not pretty, the dog went insane, then vomited and poo'd lots then passed out completely parylised for hours ubbcrying .....it took him a while to recover propely happily the dog (dave) is now fine -although he is a megelomaniac bent on world domination, a stoner and a bit eccentric ubbtickled

i dont see why animals shouldnt take drugs but i think there are limits both as to what drug and what animal (especialy dave -he was only tiny)

Question for the more chemically and medically knowledgable(sp)

someone(lightning i think) said they werent sure if datura wasa true hallucinagen, in that case do you know if its addictive or not, i know that stimulants arent but downers and trippers are, what medical drug group does datura cme under (if you know) smile wave

i tried reality once.... didnt really like it, i dont think its my sort of place...

similar to LSD in that it contains lysene and perhaps some other common components, but that is about it. morning glory seeds are one of the possible sources you can ge lysene for making LSD, but that is about where the commonality ends.

Point in fact LSD is a highly refined product (not trivial to make), and is the mind altering component of what is otherwise a VERY toxic poison (ergot mold). LSD is so refined that none of the poison is actually left, making it one of the few drugs that you cannot, by definition get "intoxicated" on, since there are no toxins in it (unlike mushrooms or pot or jimsonweed). that means all negative effects from pure LSD (which is none too common) are purely mental, for what that is worth. LSD itself is easily processed by the body, largely because it is a rather delecate substance and decays easily. That does NOT mean "similar" substances behave the same way!

My point is, trying to replicate a LSD high by using some substitute can therefore be very dangerous.

Just because something has a similar chemical makeup absolutely does NOT mean it will have similar or even remotely recognizable effects. The simple sustitution of a single type of atom in a long chemical chain can radically alter its properties, especially when you add in the wide variation of biological reactions to things that are even identical. If you are going to do drugs, as least be smart about it.

Did you know that ergotamine is a migraine drug?

The dose makes the poison.

Also, lysine is an amino acid found in every living thing, including humans. Lysergic acid, which is found in ergot mold, is what you need to make LSD, which is the diethyl amide of lysergic acid.

just like to add my agreement, ive heard nasty stories about ppl trying to cook up there own LSD with some v.v.v.nasty results

i knowone person who did when he was younger

hes been in and out of mental hospitals ever since.

on a similar but lighter note, did you now that if you change just one molocule in the LSD formula to the next one down the line of similar molocules the resulting 'drug' will not have a similar effect at all, in fact there will be no effect at all -apparently its been tried in labs to make drugs for psychotic patients eek

hmmm that doesnt sound 100% right, il check up on that... ah its close enuff

that said heres my little piece once again:

the darkness is not in the drug, its in the head

ergot was used for a milinnea or more by midwives as a pain releiver. LSD was orginally refined out of ergot in the hopes of finding a "super-asperin" type of analgesic.

Then one day one of the blokes (albert Hoffmann) at the lab trying to do this didn't wear his gloves and got a healthy dose absorbed through his fingers. In the manner of a true scientist, he took extensive notes on his experience. Gotta love a guy like that.

you know, i'm almost sad I don't get migranes anymore - I'm kinda curious about that ergotamine...

Not that I'd ever actually want a migrane again. I haven't had one in over ten years, and I truely hope it stays that way!

Quick update on our patient:

Not much information on him since there are no new notes in his medical record, however he spent a few days in the ICU and is now in Moderate Care up in the Children's Hospital. So he's been in the hospital almost a week now.
