I went home on my lunchbreak to spin for a few minutes and right when I was packing up my zunis the UPS truck showed up.
I now have in my possession the Michael Kahn book on Poi, "The Meteor Book", and a set of Dube Meteors!
I took them out of the box and did a quick weave, backwards weave. Now I know why everyone says the first place you hit yourself is the face. I didn't hit myself, but I saw it as a distinct possibility!
Anyone else have dube meteors? I've definitely going to have to tie a knot in them or something, they're way taller than I am.
Just wanted to share the joy!

I'll definitely bring the stuff with me next time I come spinning with you guys.
I'd imagine they're lighter than chain, but they're pretty hefty in my mind. The ends might need a little more weight, they're hollow rubber balls, but they get some speed of them from what I was doing.
Once again: I am so gonna hurt myself with these...

prepare for pain....they like to change direction without telling you and being 2 meters long that's a lot of force to hit you with. Maybe they're not too long....mebby you're to short!
So what's a dube meteor? Is dube a brand or seomething? Mine are from here so you can check them out in the shop.

I found the Dube meteors to be a bit too light for my liking. And yes, you must just be too short!

AAAH... im a lowelife.. just did it before... aaa damn it hurts! but theres a good in everything.. it keeps me focused on not doing it the next time.. (next time = 20 minutes after the hit)

I used climbing rope whilst camping over a month ago to make some monkey fisted meteors for fun one night. Heavy stuff. What's an ideal length? I'm about 5'7 or 8.

What's the hubcap route? I haven't gotten much into the book, need to shorten the poi first.

My meteors strech to about 6" above my head, I wouldn't recommend much longer than that.
I'm trying to figure out how to sustain a btb rotor, going into it from a weave, but am having trouble. Any hints?

Thats also how you do the btb rotor, find the point where you can keep your meteor spinning as you transfer from hand to hand. Also spreading your hands further, leaning forward a bit helps.

ive got a book on meteors by Rhys Thomas.
He calls the weave for "Ninja".... anyways.. i dont reckommend the book anyhow..

aaa... so thaaaats a rotor.. tried it just earlier before loggin in.. well i tried infront.. havnt got i quite yet.. i reckon its hard keepin the spin up and gettin the second meteor going in the first place..
