Posted: So 2 years ago, a friend borrows my keys which were connected to a lanyard, and her keys, which were also connected to a lanyard, and does the corkscrew, which blew me away. "What trickery is this?!" I demanded. I've been learning poi ever since then. A year later, after having made extremely slow progress, (seriously, I only knew a handful of patterns, and had no concept of wall planes,) I finally had the bright idea to venture online for some help. The websites of Nick Woolsey, playpoi, and Yuta, Poi Community, have helped me leaps and bounds since then. My growth is still far slower than I'd like it to be, due to a busy college life, and no poi friends. (the girl who introduced it to me moved to the UK.) Anyways, that's why I'm here. I hope to meet some close-by poi spinners to practice with, because it's beginning to feel kinda lonely here. All my other friends don't seem to be very interested in any form of contact juggling.

Godzilla vs. a Star Wars Star Destroyer. Who wins? Why? Godzilla. He nearly lost from all the laser beams, but the star destroyer and the Earth's gravity field was so strong that high impact collision at such a close range was un-stoppable. In zero gravity, the Star Destroyer can easily go places, but with Earths gravity, the fuel output was too fast, causing the engines to overheat, and finally, caused the gigantic star destroyer to come crashing down As Godzilla frantically ran for cover. Once the rubble cloud settled, the Japanese defense force escorted Godzilla into the remains of the destroyer, and rained fire and death on all opposing forces.
Favorite TV show(s): Burn Notice
Plans for life in general: (i.e. what you want to do when you grow up) I want to have it made in the animation industry. I want to revive the popularity of 2D animation, and start an era where it is accepted for adults to watch cartoons too, because cartoons will not exclusively belong to children any more. Japan's already done it in flying colors, it's time for America to follow suit.

Posted: Yo yo yo! I also be new! But unfortunately I'm from Michigan, and you should've seen what I used for my first poi. I'll give you a hint, they're belts, and they're ruined because they're stretched so much. Don't use them they hurt. And I also wish I found the videos sooner, even though I only went about 3 days without them, then I could've taken Nick's advice and for a while, don't learn anything and video taped it so I could see what I came up with. I have learned very fast, I may not yet have the best plane control with everything, but I can do pretty much everything I've looked at, except the btb wheelplane weave turn >:[ That move makes my shoulders hurt and I still can't get it! I've been at it for 2 months now and I'll warn you right now, don't do excessive orbitals with the rainbow fade poi. The PVC loops will rip. This just happened to me, but thankfully the service is wonderful and they are not only replacing them, but sending me the oval quicklinks (idk why they don't come with it in the set) so it doesn't strain the loops nearly as much. Keep all this in mind and that HoP has the bestiest service ever. ^^ I suggested to them that they should put a description on those heads that they are not made for orbitals and may rip and they took it and may put it on there soon. So if you see that and I save you some trouble, you can just skip the thanks and give me a cookie
The only luck is bad luck.

Posted: I envy people who grasp the movements and patterns of poi so quickly and effectively. Maybe sock poi just aren't orbital material, but I just can't seem to get them right. Despite being somewhat on the I'm-a-poor-college-student-with-no-money side, I probably should cough up some 25-ish dollars for a set of more dependable practice poi...

Posted: Lol, I use sock poi and I can do orbitals with them, but they only hold for about 5 seconds at most. I also have LED poi with pro series handles and that lets me play with the orbitals ^^ DON'T DO TO MANY ORBITALS WITH RAINBOW FADE BALLS! They eventually broke on me, but HoP is replacing them ^^ and giving me a pair of oval links because they fit the loop in them tighter because they're half a mm bigger and will spread out the force. I also had an idea, coat the inside of the loop with a layer of tape so it doesn't start to rip ^_^
The only luck is bad luck.

Posted: I picked up poi really quick, was doing 5 beat weaves fountains, btb butterflies and corkscrews in the first day!
But it has come back to bite me cause I havnt put the legwork into nailing the basics. So I had a lot of wow factor, but no solid framework to build a decent routine. SO now im just practicing low reels, to try and get my planes good.
sticks and stones my break my bones, but ski patrol will save me.
