Hi! I've been looking at the tutorials for awhile now, but I suppose I'll stop lurking and introduce myself.
Name: Elise
Location: Vancouver area (British Columbia, Canada)
Occupation: Student
Favourite Toys: My new fire and glow poi from homeofpoi. =D
How long?: Started spinning in June, but didn't have a chance to get into it until early July, I think. I used a set of beanbag poi. My new fire and glow poi just arrived last week! Excited.
Other interests: Sword fighting (I need to get back into that) other martial arts, done a little bit of falconry - wish I could do more
Favouite television programs: Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Red Dwarf
Favourite web series: Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
Favourite Music: Wide variety, mostly European metal (Epica, Nightwish, select songs from other groups) along with some older rock (Queen, Steve Miller and Band, Pink Floyd)
Books: Thousand Splendid Suns, Ishmael, Terry Prachett
Videogames: Team Fortress 2, Dragon Age: Origins, Okami, Zelda
Not sure what else to say.
The last super-important-ultra question: Uhh... I haven't tried vegemite, though I've been meaning to. I'm going to go with the Nutella side for now, as I haven't even heard of the other thing.

Well, I did five years of tae kwon do, two years of sword fighting, some grappling and some knife fighting. I'm not training in anything at the moment, aside from the occasional knife/sword fight with friends.

Rapier fencing, mostly. (Single rapier, rapier+dagger) Touched a little bit of long sword, side sword, quarter staff.

Would be cool to get into that.
Am reasonable with a quarter-staff (I think), and can sort of use tonfa (but have not played with them for a while). That has been done with friends looking for "stuff what works", so is probably not as effective as it could be.

Dragon age origins is a bitchin' game-
And Majoras Mask is still one of the best games ever-
Supposedly there is going to be a release of a new Zelda game (not certain for which system though)
Night wish is awesome- but I miss Tarja

@D3l1r1um I saw a short clip that Nintendo released at E3 of the new Zelda game. It looked interesting in that the graphics were cell shaded, like Windwaker, but they used the more 'life like' models, from the other games. About Nightwish, Tarja does indeed have a great voice, but the band had valid reasons for booting her. I like Annette. Now, if they had Simon Simmons from Epica replace Tarja, that would have been amazing.

As stated, great music selection. Feel free to ask for anything you need. I personally do poi (only 5 months in and haven't had the ability to diligently practice but I've got the basics down) and fire breathing which as the link will tell you, stay away from. But if you're determined to learn, please look up a professional, and I'm now confident enough to be a teacher if we're ever in the same area (I got payed, thus I am a professional, sure its a technicality but I've corrected many a "professional" firebreather who were a danger to themselves and others) HoP has some of, if not the best best poi on the market and their kevlar is to die for. Cheap and haven't bought anything myself, but I bum off of friends and use their gear.
That being said, enjoy your stay and don't go back to lurking too much, be vocal
