I kinda never got around to doing one after all this time, so thought I better properly introduce myself to the world of the Hoppers! woo! here goes...

Name: Steph aka Stroo/Pinkkaos/Neff/Teff

Sex: All woman baby! hehe

Age: 17

B-day: 9th June

Location: near Oxford-ish

Favourite Toys: Poi, practise and fire…mm…fire

Been twirling: Hmm…6 months in total I guess?

Occupation: Student - A-levels and weekend secretary

Hobbies: Spinning, my band (I sing), drinking, buddies, reading, swimming, dancing around in my underwear whenever possible, surfing in the hols really badly.

Music: Soul baby! Also rock, funk, jazz…so much stuff. What I like basically depends on my mood.

TV Shows: Sex and the City, Friends…blimey I'm such a girl

Books: It’s a close one between George Orwells 1984, and Marggie O’Farrells After You’d Gone.

Favourite Colour: Cadburys Purple, then dark green

Hair: Hmm, at the mo its blondey on top with dark red underneath and purple in the fringe. And all messy and flicky. I don’t like my hair being boring. It changes whenever I'm bored with myself.

Piercings: 5 in my ears and 1 in my nipple. Planning to do my tongue too.

Drink: mmm…tea…..has to be the answer to the world problems. Everyone should chill out with a cuppa and talk about their problems. Then everyone would be sorted. Plus alcohol…I do the girlie vodka orange thang.

Food: Ice cream, chocolate (dark), mangoes, cuppa soup, salad, anything fresh and veggy (never eaten meat or fish). The only thing I can’t stand is mushrooms….eeewewewewewew.

Nothing beats: a good snuggle

Hates: flies, people who kill flies (hehe), mushrooms, small spaces that I can’t get out of, being held down (when I don’t want to be wink hehe)

yup...so thats me... ubbrollsmile

Can one ever embarrass themselve enough? wink

Meant to ask - are you AS-level or A2 at the moment? If your AS then i have electronic versions many powerpoint that I can pm the link for. And this may help with your assignments:

Research and Referencing Pointers

Here are three useful online journal resources:

science direct

RAND

BioMed

With some of the journals you find you may not be able to access the full text. However, you may be able to use the ABSTRACT. An abstract is a summery of all that is contained within a journal – sort of like the journal equivalent to a film trailer.

No matter what source of information you use it is important to reference where you get your information. If you don’t then your work may be considered as copied (plagiarised). Plagiarised work receives nil point! Referencing can be analogised as copying from a range of sources and admitting to the copying – this is also known as research. If you copy from one source this known as cheating!

So how should you reference?

There are two ways; the Harvard system and the Oxford system. Most organisations use the Harvard system and so it makes the most sense for you to do likewise.

For instructions of how this works go to:

Referencing Help

From my own experience it is easiest to reference as you type rather than trying to go through your work and inserting the references. As time saving way of doing this is typing up your reading list as references and then copying and pasting throughout your assignment, using the most appropriate reference for the point you are making.

Also, use scientific references from reputable sources instead of common media stuff. For example using The Sun’s “…Frankenstein’s Tomato…” article instead any number of Nature articles when discussing genetic engineering will not look good.

count yourself lucky that you don't have to "enquire about the positions and their relativity to each other in the shopping hierarchy of south manchester" and then rig the research to make it look like the one that should be higher, is higher, despite almost all research saying it isnt

on the plus side, would you like some toblerone ice cream? tongue

Yeast are fasinating with the right outlook...

Don't rig your research, use it to argue against the status quo!!!

we're told by the school to "adjust" the research to make the job of the corusework easier, and then the next capter is saying problems with it and how it isn't vaild, so some poor examiner sat there and read through 15 pages or so and then finds out its all rubbish. silly waste of time and money mad

What - so your school is after identical pieces of coursework from all of you? Yep - it does sound like a waste of effort - is this GCSE stuff?

Ops - sorry stroo should probably posted this in Hav thread.

yeah, and even worse, we still have to do the coursework, even if we're not taking the exam, so all that happens is the school keep the coursework, adjust it so it looks uberly good, and then show it to the next year, and the vicious circle repeats. eeeeeeeevil school
