Hi All
Are there any Poi spinners around the center-ish of Derby that meet regularly (or ever, in fact!)?
I started uni here in sept, but theres only one I know of on a monday. I don't spin fire, I'm not experienced enough, and could do with some help spinning!!
Also, Nottingham for the same- I lived there before and go back ever weekend pretty much!!

hey, umm... i'm not in Derby atm, but will hopefully be moving there in a few months if everything goes to plan, and i'm gonna be visiting there quite a lot until i do move (if, which i pray i do) so i could probs meet up with you? i dont spin fire just yet since it scares me, but i could probably help a bit with spinning if you like?
ummmm...........anybody have any suggestions as to what i can put here?!

I'm in Burton, just South of Derby. I go clubbing in Derbys rock venues most weekends. Don't know of any spinners there although I have seen 'em before in the 1st Floor Club (Many weeks back now).
I'm not burning and spinning yet myself, but I'm wanting too ... I just want to nail the basics before I attempt it though so I don't FUBAR my first attempt - I want it to be memorable for being non-fatal !

1st Floors ok, nothing amazing though. Best in the area, cept some of the people in there can be bum-holes (Mostly the Burtonians that travel up there tbh.)
Burton College ? Oooof. Nah, it's no-where near as bad as it used to be. In fact, it actually looks like a proper college now, not some run-down 60's Polytech!

Burton College, tbh, used to be dire. It's improved in the last 2 years or so though and it's now trying for Uni college status, so they've generally stopped tolerating the herds of mindless chavs that seemed to populate the place !!! Nah, it's cool now, never used to be though. You'll do well no doubt !
Plus my local fave drinking hole is dead opposite (The Dog.).

That was oddly sinister .... but wasn't meant to be ! EEEEEEP!This summer will be amazing. Last one was utter nastiness apart from one great potential love, but even that's dead now, so in hindsight 2006 sucked canine dangly bits.
1st Floor clubs opening a new room too, so they'll be two rooms to spin in ! YAY !

hey knotty_girl, the nottingham fire meet is on a thursday unfortunately which doesn't help you too much if you come back at the weekends - sorry about that! but hey you're not missing much at the mo anyway with it being winter and not that many ppl go down when its cold and/or wet. but you should definately come down in the summer when you have the time - we have quite a nice contingent of about 40 ppl - they're not all spinners but they are all cool to talk to and get to know. and those who are spinners are always willing to help ppl learn new stuff

I have my sinister, but it's currently locked up, gagged, bound, suspended and being slapped around a bit - and it likes it!
Booze and spinny things? For some reason I thought about drunken planetary rotation and orbits. How very ... odd.

I'm worried about that too, but I'm going to meet people and have a nice holiday basically - and of course to learn lots ! I'll be on my own too, even though a couple of mates from up here are going I'm not just gonna lurk around them!
You won't spend it alone! I'm probably going alone but I know I'll have lots of new friends to get to know, yourself included!

I'll try, defo wanna get round to some groups, meet people, put names to faces, learn from people and stuff.
Aye, I go places on my own all the time, usually I end up finding people in the same situation and just hanging round with them and making some really good mates out of it !
Works mental, so Wales might be a stretch for the foreseeable future, but if I win the lottery I think I may travel considerably more ...

Derby Uni has a Circus and Street Performance society, they meet on mondays 7-9pm at the Main campus, its not on at the mo, but should be back up by the end of sept.

there's the nottingham fields of fire meet every thursday on forest fields/goose fair site - here's th HOP thread for it [Old link] but the website is out of date. here's the new website which needs some work still on it, so here is the wikipage - which may be more useful at the mo! It's really friendly and you should definitely come down and spin with us! although getting back to ilkeston at that time of night might be a little tricky! not sure when the last rainbow 2 is.... then there's the nottingham juggling club, which is on a monday in sherwood i believe but i haven't had a chance to go yet - Peachi would be the one to talk to for that Hope to see you soon! Thoughts arrive like butterflies...
