Just had to give you this mental image.

I am working from home today, and am sitting at the computer. On the balcomy are about 9 rainbow lorikeets, chattering away.

One of the more adventurous ones keeps on flying off to hang upside-down from the tree branches. The last time he did it, he gripped on with his beak, then tried to swing his feet up so he could grab the branch with his claws. Unfortunately he couldn't reach. So there is this bird hanging from a branch by his beak with his little feet waggling in the air

Total funniest home video material...

It was a day for screaming at inanimate objects.

What this calls for is a special mix of psychology and extreme violence...

after a couple of minutes hanging by his beak, he let go and flew off.

They are all really sleepy today, tucking their heads in under their wings. And there are two that are acting like a honeymoon couple, snuggling up to each other.

There are another couple of young ones I am keeping a close eye on, cos I have just painted a table and it is sitting on the balcony. They keep on eyeing it in the same way people who are tempted to draw on wet cement would do.

OUt here, a few years ago, we used to have a big problem with birds downtown. There was this huge old tree (I don't rcall what sort) that's fruit would rot on the branches toward the end of the year. It seems that the birds figured out that they could eat this fruit after it had fermented for a bit and get really smashed.

So for about two week out of the year you would see birds flying into the ground, into cars, in to the windows of office buildings, and many flying sort of sideways. It was really amusing.

Jesus helps me trick people.
