as an actual pet, i think dogs because they help protect you and are loyal, fun, and can be taken places easily.

So my pet Kyri doesn't count?

I love dogs, but at least cats take care of themselves.

Then again, you don't so much own a cat as you have an arrangement with one... and generally the cat gets the long end of the deal.

reptiles make the best pets, I would gladly trade my dogs for some rare lizards and snakes.

Rats make great pets, they are clean, can look after themselves, eat little, have great personalities dont require alot of space... yeah.
I love both cats and dogs. My dog is a great friend and a great guard dog. Also a comfy cushion.
Adya's cat Tina is really nice, i would happily have her as a pet

Big dogs.

We used to have a golden retriever, years ago. She was beautiful.

I've always wanted another big dog like a German Shepard...or a Husky so I can give them big cuddles...seeing as though I don't get any cuddles in real life! *sniffles* tongue

Instead we have a stupid cat.

Well he's not really stupid, he's grogeous but he's savage and doesn't like cuddles! You can barely touch him!

.All things are beautiful if we take the time to look.

Yeah, someone said that a dog would try to rescue you in a house fire....but a cat would eat you.

17? that would be so cool. Though, its better to only have one or two, cos then you can give them more attention and they love you more.

i never meant to have 17! i was supplying a pet shop and then they didn't need any more rats and i was left with 13 babies! They all get lots of attention and its great, i put a couple in each dressing gown pocket and some in the hood. You should have seen the postman's face when i answered the door and all these little faces were poking out of my pockets biggrin

That sounds cool Star, i used to ride around on my bike with mine. Having a little face out the front of my shirt or having them sit on my shoulder. Could get away with taking them into shops and everything.

Anything that makes girls scream. (I'm SO mature) Like snakes, scorpions and spiders!

Failing that, a big fluffy cat biggrin

After much consideration, I find that the view is worth the asphyxiation.

I would like to say my son...he's even fuzzy (brushcut) and I pet his head all the time...but I think he'd get mad.

I really do enjoy most animals and have had a wide variety of pets but enjoy my snake Goldie the most (photo of her and I in my gallery I think). She has the best personality, is extremely personable and sweet.
Snakes are clean, don't eat much, are extremely portable, feel amazing and they give you massages! They do require some special care but are so worth it.

Some one said something about dogs saving people from fires. Our dog started one. My dad had to wake up our cat and dog to get them out of the house.

Mice are awesome pets, too. They are smart, clean, active, and fun. My favorite mouse, Jinx, will waddle (she's quite fat) into your hand if you hold it out and trim your finger nails.

Or, my friend Naveed. His hair is soft, almost like a short haired dog. If you pet his hair long enough he'll say, "Meow!"

I hear praying mantises make good pets. You can tie a string around one's neck and then leash it to your bedpost and it eats any errant bugs that might come and try to snack on you.

But I tried to catch one once. Well, I did catch him. His response was to sink his forelegs into my finger, which I suppose is Mantish for "Please, sir, would you mind PUTTING ME THE HECK DOWN?" He got his wish...

in Darwin you dont need to keep geckos as pets, they are everywhere in your house already! We used to tell visitors from America that they were poisonous, he hehe

A thorny devil would be cool. we used to have millions of frilled neck lizzards in our yard. The babies are so cute, when they hatch they are about 10cm long, tail and all, tail is like a third of thier length. But yeah, tehy still stick up their frill to try and scare you away. very cute! But we dont get many anymore, my dog scared them all away to the neighbours yards. Though when i went home last year there was a 1.5m goanna in the yard, It and my dog had a good argument of who was the boss.

darwin? try brisbane! i am sure that this is the breeding ground for all the local geckos... at anyone time you will walk into our house and their will be at least 6-7 visable upon the walls or windows... gets worse in summer... but they are more than welcome, not the best pets though, they are a little too shy.

It's called a mukade, this one was only 4" long (they grow to 10"). They're poisonous enough to kill a small child, and I was unlucky enough to be bitten by a small one while I was sleeping. My whole right hand side went numb for 24 hours, and the pain was intense for the first 4. After that I decided I'd rather have this one in a fish tank with a heavy book on top, than running around under the house.

I've always wanted a raven/crow as a pet. They're so beautiful and shiny. Or a Maccaw.

I've always dreamt of having one of those birds where breeders/trainers train them to fly away (still in sight) then come back and land on your arm and you have to wear a big glove! A falcon of some sort maybe? Or an eagle of sorts? Lol

When I finished high school (and sixth form) I went to an agricultural college to study ornamental fishkeeping, and ended up sharing a big old farm house with 8 other people on my course or the small animal care course. We had 30 snakes, 50 fish, 10 cats, 2 rats and about 1000 mice.

One time we were looking after someones parakeet, and it decided it liked me and spent the weekend with me. I had to go into a gas station with it sat on my shoulder!

One of the cats was left with us to have kittens, so seven of the 10 were kittens. I picked the runt of the litter, and she's still the cutest little cat I've ever seen. Her mum was a giant farm tabby, so I've got a cute little killing machine!

I've wanted a raven for ages too. A proper wizards familiar smile They can be trained to talk, and can live for ages. Magpies are able to talk too, but they're a bit too cheeky to have roaming the house.

They have falconry centers in this part of England, and they have all sorts of falcons that are trained to hunt, like kestrels, peregrins, and hobbies. The owls are the prettiest though, like barn owls and little owls. If you spend enough time looking out the car window on a long journey here you can always spot falcons hovering by the edges of the field looking for rodents.

personally, I enjoy cats! They r like me in a way!

I also really enjoyed the scorpions i used to have when i lived out on a farm! they used to come into town with me! I would have to wear a longsleeved shirt, and they'd sit on my hand or arm... every now and again they'd peek out, or the sleeve moved... and anyone in the vacinity freaked out! Some people didnt belive they were real tho' till one would turn around and crawl back under the shirt! ubblol

they were really cool to keep, even the really venimous ones got used to me and i could handle them... but they never went anywhere with me.. tht would have just been stupid (like breathing fire with petrol) same thing!

I miss thoes little blokes!
