Posted: What happens when you clip a set of double-wick poi to the end of 4-wick poi? Uberpoi++, of course! Yup, that's six wicks on chains over five feet long that hold nearly 1/4 gallon of kerosene. Twisted dreams or sheer insanity? Perhaps both, and then some. The lighting up...https://vees.net/gallery/display.phtml?id=2383&offset=11Spinning is really hard when you have to keep your hands above your shoulders at all times to avoid hitting the ground...https://vees.net/gallery/display.phtml?id=2384&offset=12Fire in the sky!https://vees.net/gallery/display.phtml?id=2385&offset=133-D effecthttps://vees.net/gallery/display.phtml?id=2387&offset=15Oops...https://vees.net/gallery/display.phtml?id=2388&offset=16Body wrapshttps://vees.net/gallery/display.phtml?id=2389&offset=17It's not all fun and games. Posted: Oops. Nearly forgot. Be very careful where you leave your hot wicks. Someone might step on them. Sorry, Dale. https://vees.net/gallery/display.phtml?id=2411&offset=34-p.

Posted: OK, PJ, you are officially crazier than me. My string o' pearls used about the same amount of fuel as yours, I guess (half a gallon for the pair), but with five wicks, mine were only (only!) 42" long. Those things must have been a bitch and a half to keep going. Short stilts might be in order.

Pele Higher, higher burning fire...making music like a choir "Oooh look! A pub!" -exclaimed after recovering from a stupid fall "And for the decadence of art, nothing beats a roaring fire." -TMK
Posted: So Pele makes a multi-wick toy with 4 wicks and calls it "Jacob's Ladder."pj, makes a pair of multi-wick toys with 4 wicks each and calls them "uberpoi."adamrice makes a multi-wick 5-wick toy and calls it "String of pearls."pj, makes a new pair of multi-wick toys with 6 wicks each and dubs them "uberpoi++." I feel really bad for pj's arms if someone decides to create a 7 wick toy. I have a feeling that since he had trouble with 4, now he's struggling with 6 his arms will fall right off when he goes to 8. I understand that it's fun to build on works and improve. But it's getting kinda crampt in here with all the peacocks ruffling their feathers. I guess my point is that I like hearing about new things, but only when they're new. I find it fun to hear about when people figure out a way to do a trick they had difficulty with. I also enjoy reading many of the new posts about first time performing for a crowd. If the 4-wicked poi had been used and danced well with that'd be cool. But if it can't be figured out then why the move to a 6-wicked one? And if a pair of 4's was difficult, then wouldn't a pair of 6's be even more so?I visit this because I have a good grasp on many of the fire things and feel that I can offer help or suggestions in the areas I know. Namely safety issues, photography, and web design. I don't visit so that I can see a 1-upping contest. (Back to tinker's comment I guess.)------------------"Except for that Mrs. Lincoln, How did you like the play?"Pyromorph - Let the fire change you

Posted: Sorry dude, I do this for my own enjoyment and nothing else. I don't perform for money, and I don't sell my toys to make money. Nor do I ever have any intention of doing so. I am, however, a junkie, and a pretty hardcore one at that. Pick your poison, the second dose has always got to be bigger, harder, stronger than the last. Sure, I get challenged by others too. What's wrong with that? The world would be a pretty dull place otherwise.I had a blast playing with Pele'e Jacob's Ladder at the ECSF earlier this year. At that time, the JL was just a single chain with four wicks. I thought, damn, if one chain of four wicks is this much fun, what would two chains of four wicks be like? So I built a set to find out. And lemmie tellya, the rush of swinging them for the first time was even harder than the first time I lit up with "standard" poi. It's just like the fire vs. glowstick thread, though it should be noted that I have as much fun swinging glowsticks/streamers as I do spinning any of my fire toys.Sure I couldn't dance with 4-wick uberpoi at first, but suddenly I found my heavier single wick poi *much* easier to manage. But I say at first because now I can do most of my moves with uberpoi. I knew all along that I'd need to top uberpoi at some point, and they were designed specifically with expandability in mind. uberpoi++ are nothing more than two existing sets of poi linked together, and I can just as easily chain even more to the end. BTW, credit for the name goes to RobC/Vees. It is especially fitting given my opinions on C++, namely that C++ is a gross and disgusting bloated beast.I really only see one or two feathers ruffled here -- everyone else seems to be having a damn fun time. Personally I'd *like* to see what *other* people can do with multi-wick poi. I really hope that Adam's client keeps in touch with us and shows what he can do with the String of Pearls. And by the way, I really do intend to swing the uberpoi++ while on stilts some day. And once I've done that, well, let's just say the phrase "...on stilts on sand on weed!" has been a running joke among calefaction.org for several months now.I'm sorry, but I'm just not going to let small minds keep me down.-p.
