Can someone explain what a blow back is. I have just been reading the safety bit and just wondered. I am only using beginners set at mo and know little about using fire as yet.
Thanks then!

hmmm - methinks a blow back generally refers to something that happens when you are firebreathing; the wind changes direction and your fuel (lit and unlit) blows back at you...

In terms of poi/staff, it could be again talking about wind direction controlling the length and heat of your flames.

Hope that helps!

It also refers to the very very dangerous situation in firebreathing where the flame travels down the fuel faster than it moves away from the body.

At the best, it ends in blistered lips, at the worst the fuel vapors in your lungs catch fire and you die.

For those who say they don't breathe in so there are no vapors...the vapors travel from the roof of your mouth, into the nasal passages and then down into your lungs.

Blowbacks are very very dangerous, and often cause dby unpredictable factors such as fuel volatility that is slightly different for every batch.

Be careful out there people...
