Posted: Does anyone know if you can get travel medical insurance from a country that you don't belong to, but you've been there for a couple of months? I'm leaving Canada for over a year, and the insurance companies aren't allowed to sell insurance for more than a year at a time, and so I'm ok for New Zealand, but screwed for Asia. So i thought if I could buy insurance from a kiwi company, then my problem will be solved. Does anyone out there know if this will be ok?

Posted: no idea, but watch out for ones who wake you up obscenely early on sunday mornings, and don't let you go back to sleep, until they decide to leave the room and go and wake everyone else in the house up . You know who you are.....

Posted: All the companies I've looked at specify that you can only take out insurance from a country if you are a resident.
However.
Numerous insurance companies do the whole thing over the net, you should be able to take out one lot of insurance in Canada and then go with another company while you're travelling. Check the small print to see if they specifically state you must start travelling with that particular policy or not.
There is a slight possibility that I am not actually right all of the time.
