Well, I've actually been a member of this site for quite some time, not sure how long really....but I figured i should say hello at some point, why not today?
I started spinning poi a couple of years ago May, in Victoria, on fire for the first time in September in the Kootenays. Maybe 3 years? I was mostly on my own, learning everything from this site and a couple of others. i was really too intimidated to join a group....insecure i guess. Now i kinda wish i had, cuz my learning curve has fizzled a little. i got to the point where the next logical step would be behind the back type moves and i haven't really gone any further. Mostly cuz i got distracted by the hula hoop. I whirl hoops these days, and i aspire to do fire with em, but i have yet to get it together. i'm hoping that my posting on this site will give me the impetus to pick it up again(the poi) and perhaps get further with the hoops.
I do some juggling, but my skills are very rudimentary...i'd love to pick up the staff. I have played with other peoples and even on fire a couple of times. but i'm nowhere near as confident as with the chains and the hoops. and i really really wanna get my freek on with some meteors, those have tremendous appeal.
I was out the Kootenay way for a time, but now I mostly kick it in Victoria, chillin in the hood with my special ladyfriends, skateboarding and raising hell when we can.
I live in my bus these days, just a crazy, loopy fire freek who aspires to have delusions of grandeur.....and a nice hot cup of tea with my best girl.
