Would a glowbug short staff make a good lightsaber?
I'm designing a Jedi outfit, and have found lots of nice stuff online for making lightsaber handles that look really impressive. But they lack blades. Could I use a glowbug staff inserted into a specially designed handle of some sort?
Also, how tough are these things? Can they stand up to light pretend fencing, or are they too fragile?

Cheaper option... make the 'globug part' rather than cannibalise an actual staff... there's lots of instructions in various threads if you search (sorry for not posting a link, it always goes wrong when I try anything remotely clever!)

I was actually thinking of constructing a "handle" made mainly of bicycle handlebar grips, designed to slip over the staff- the staff stays intact, and the handle can be removed later- the end cap of the staff also helps keep the handle from slipping off of the end- those endcaps are hell to get off!
