ok...so it was saturday night of folk fest '03. i met this guy and we sat up talking 'til sunrise. he made the grave mistake of telling me that he can "spin fire". with me coming from a long line of pyro's, i called him out. the next day, i headed down into the woods and with a very dull pocket knife and a hacksaw blade, and i carved him a staff of cedar. he wraped the ends in a towel and some chicken wire, and i used up all of my tiki torch bug-be-gone oil. he lit them up and low and behold the boy could spin! wow was i in amazement. very shortly after i took the lit staff from him and was on my was to a crazy new passion. (although i burnt a little of my hair and my left ear that night) anyway... i made myself a 5' staff of cedar (with a planer this time) and spun my little heart out. i was spinning for about 4 months but had to stop due to medical issues but now i'm back!!! and with poi this time. it's been fun trying to learn to spin the poi. right now i have chain with tennis balls. i am still a little reluctant to put the wicks on the ends and light them up, but i will get there soon. so to the "guy" thank u and if u should happen to stumble across this, drop me a line...fida's ready!!!

*****i'm looking for people to spin with in the philadelphia, pa area*****

if everything happens for a reason,
why are there so many excuses?

My state of mind is not yours to define!

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
