My girlfriend is leaving for Cambodia, India , and Malaysia in two days and so far she has her set of poi totally diassembled and kevlar unburned she is also traveling with isopropanol as fuel. So.. I guess what we wnat to know is if there is anyone out there who has also travelled through customs and airport security and what papers if any should she bring just in case there is a catch. Dunno....fireproof

I dont know for sure but I doubt they would let her travle with the fuel. However, get the MSDS for the fuel, call the airport and talk to the air line. You might need a special container for the fuel.

Working in embarkation with the sqadron a little I know that from our military side of the house, we are not alowd to travle with fule or evey hyde fluid.

The worst thing that could happin is them not allow her to take the fuel. The poi should not be a problem if she puts them in her baggage that goes under the plain.

Some Jarhead last night: "this dumb a$$ thinks hes fireproof"

Never had a problem travelling with fire poi on planes. However you won't be able to take the fuel, no way at all.

As long as the poi are securely wrapped up and in the main luggage (to go in the hold) and NOT in hand luggage all should be fine

Geologists do it in the dirt................ spank

Aloha,

So when I get it right here, is there nobody here has experienced Problems traveling with fire pois (burned, used) if they packed smart, save into the baggage (not carry on).

No Fuels of cause. If so talk first to the Airline...
(but i am not wanna carry that arround anyway)

I just ordered Fire Pois, and like to try them out here of cause, Hawaii and wanna take them with with me to my travels to Europe, Germany....

Do I see that right ??

Thanks

We've had various people tell us their tales of woe in relation to confiscation of their poi/staff by airline security. We've had ppl try putting it securely wrapped airtight in carry on, and also in check in. Most ppl have been successful when it's been in check-in luggage but every now and again someone gets all officious and says "NO". We even had a few where they were told "No" and they then removed the wick and and they were still told "No".
As long as the toys have had fuel on them, you run the risk (albiet a small risk) of someone saying "No". THe fuel smell can be very strong and daunt the poor security guards who like to play safe - when in doubt say no seems to be their motto.

I have several large jars of the stuff. I actually like it... a little. And don't tell anyone I admitted to it.

ditto

NO poi or staff or swords in carry-on, okay in checkin (even with wick and smell - but unlikely with smell within, from or to the US)... NEVER soaked.

Usually the airline personell suspects fishing rods or golf clubs (at least when you're over 30), not firestaff... I leave them in this delusion, nod and say nothing... Firefans seem to really puzzle the baggage screeners, good fun to observe the expressions....

Safe travels and lots of fun

I once (accidentally) travelled with re-dunked and unlit sticks, that actually made my stick bag wet with parafin. Thankfully, the smell of my feet masked the smell of the fuel and no one noticed ubblol
I was VERY lucky that time.

If the check in lady/ gay man ( wink ) asks what your equpiment is... ALWAYS say "juggling equipment". This is technically true as all poi, staff, diablo, devilstick, etc, things come under the term of "juggling", without having to mention the suicide word.. "fire" biggrin
