Hey, I'm Lolly, and I'm....an alcoholic. Ok, so that joke is well overdone... Anyhoo, I'm pretty much a beginner, and a total newbie here. Hoping to make some new friends and get some good tips
Got my heart set on being able to spin fire poi asap...

Aaaaand having seen another post which makes me think my intro was simply not detailed enough, here's some extra info which no one really wants to know:

My name is Lauren, or Lolly, or XS, I'm 21, and currently making the rather painful transition from student life into the real world. I live in the north east of the UK, and I'm not all that happy about it. I plan to travel to Japan at some point, preferably sooner than later. I love learning about Japanese culture, and also have a great interest in Japanese cinema.

Being a *former* media studies student, I'm also interested in most forms of media. A common misconception about media studies students is that we're all money-hungry sensationalists with no morals. Personally, I hate most aspects of the mainstream media, and disagree strongly with the ethics (or rather lack of) employed within the media industry. So there. I could go on, but I think I covered the basics.

I have black (dyed, unfortunately) hair, and I'm grieving the recent loss of my blue and black dreads. However, they shall be back... Got green/blue eyes which tend to look a bit different every day, 2 ears, nose and mouth. And all other body parts as standard. 5 ear piercing which are all a bit shoite, and have my nose and lip pierced. No tattoos as yet, but that shouldnt be for long now.

I love music, as do most people, and I'm mainly into metal, alt, industrial and hardcore electro. Although I do find myself singing along the occasional pop song, which no longer embarrasses me, as I'm a lot more settled within myself than I was when I was, say, 18. Not completely settled, but pretty damn comfy.

There's a whole lot more to me, but I figure I might as well keep a certain element of mystery about myself...

Well bonjour to you, sir! smile

I spin poi, only started properly 3 days ago, and I've mastered the basics so far biggrin Hoping to set stuff on fire soon tho..

And I think I could fly if I wanted to, cos I have a lot of flying dreams. It might be a sign. Although, the last one I had, I was flying on a wooden spoon... confused

Is it? Are you sure? It's not that common. I've never heard it.

If people say that to you then you must be talking to the wrong people....

Meh

Well, it seems to be an opinion held by a number of people, whom I do and also don't know personally. No one who is of any importance to me thinks that, so I guess the 'wrong' people I talk to are the ones who I would prefer didn't bother doing so.
Please don't pick at insignificant details like that. Also, simply because you have never heard anyone say that doesn't mean it hasn't been said.
I'd prefer not to waste my time justifying myself, especially to people who (it seems) just want to stir things up. And no doubt I'm going to be the one who comes off the worst here, for standing up to someone who is probably a popular and long-term member of this site. But c'est la vie.
I also apologise if I mistook a simple comment for an attempt to belittle me.
