I actually wanted more, but this is using up the last of my stock and I don't have the money for more until sometime after Christmas which is far too long wink probably better this way, as with more wick it would become very heavy.

I have another set of double staff that have 1.8 m of wick on each end, but it is only in two lots, so only 5" wide.

btw, does the space between the 3rd & 4th wick do much for appearance?

no idea, I will find out soon enough though biggrin

I was in two minds as to whether the break should be inbetween the 2nd and 3rd or 3rd and 4th.

I was also going to make the gap equal to the width of the wick, but thought I might end up with it too close to my hands. As it is my first pair of staff with this sort of design I want to ease into it. I can always go a bit overboard with the next versions wink

Actually while I was putting that one together I was having some rather strange thoughts of a pole 1.5 - 1.8 m long with one end through to the middle covered in wick done in similar fashion to the ends of that one.

I figure it would take between 3 and 3.6 m of kevlar depending on what length I use for each roll.

Then I can use it as a spear/flag pole (with out the flag) and a few other ways to play with biggrin

It's not even competeting as overkill until it is three metres long with over a meter of wick, in length, at each end. But then even that seems a bit tame these days...

i agree
i saw no contact at all,
he could have done loads horizontal contact and there would have been no need for stilts at all

interesting .... mmmm... cool something to aim for. Although I can't stand on stilts to save my life, so will have to be creative.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure I saw Tim do quite a bit of contact with that Huge Staff at Play...

Quite a bit, considering the restrictions of being on Stilts, and using a huge, heavy staff...

Not overkill at all.

I've been planning on doing something similiar, but using a kevlar rope and winding it down a staff...

It's the way to do it without using billions of meter of wick.

Alternatively you can wind a piece of kevlar rope down the staff.

why people? why? its just too much fire. fire is just fore play to actual juggling all well and good but if you have too much you'll forget the sex. A staff with so much fire you have to be on stilts!?! a perfect example the fire is actually impeading the juggling instead of improving it.

p.s feel free to ignore me i have very strong views on fire as i always find it detracts from devilstick because people look at the fire and not the moves. anyway grumpy pre-christmas poverty induced rant over.
have a lovely day

stilts maybe lazy, but are very cool.. What about stilts that have wicks at the base, so the stilt is walking on fire biggrin .
although wooden stilts would not be funny.

why not have two gaps so you get a more balanced look? but that may just look boring :S
