How do you isolate a staff? I know what poi isolations are, but not staff ones...
I know what translations are though! I can do those! Sometimes...
After much consideration, I find that the view is worth the asphyxiation.

Yeah I think I know what a staff isolation entails but would like a little clarification... i can only think of balances and..Cheese
at the moment A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.

Basic Staff Buzzsaw Isolation(vertical)
a)Pick up two steves in your hands, stay wheel plane
b)Whiles holding steves, catch with your right hand the head(wick) of your left staff, catch with your left hand, still honding the steve, head of your right staff. It looks than like one big staff, or like you are prepared to paddle kajak.
c)Paddle in the air with new big staff. Like when you turn your bike to test if paddeles and chain works well.
d)After a while try the same motion, but without holding opposite steves heads. Let them turn parallel to each other. Both heads should still stay close your opposite hands.
e)Try turn within.
f)Thats it, zou are Izolating

If you do double horizontal isolated neckwraps, you can keep one flame isolated right in front of you face which is really good cos then noone knows who you are like a ninja. And ninjas are sooooo sweet.

You isolate staff when you put the spinning center out of the middle of the staff and place it somewhere between wick and center,from

With doubles its the same and mostly the isolation center is the same for both steves too.

incidently
horizontal isolated throws should work pretty well too. though it only just occurred to me so i havent tried.
you can do them vertical for sure. looks like one stick is sliding out and sliding back in again if you go translaty style.
stone, olive posted some vids of isolations a way while back. they might still be buried in the vids thread.

OK, it's a slightly misleading name
You isolate for half a rotation, then it wraps your neck for half a rotation. So it's only isolated half the time. The cunningness being that with two sticks, you can keep one isolated all the time... monkeys ate my brain

I haven't been working on horizontal staff iso yet, .. except at poi
I reckon - from my experience at poi - that anything is possible: antispin, crossed/uncrossed, antiweave ..
