It does matter for the forum to work properly, and you to actually get your questions answered, the different boards are put up for good reason.
A LOT of people don't ever browse the introduction board, they're not interested in it, but they would see your question in the help board, where they go to... help people.
Also a lot of people only end up viewing an intro thread by clicking the user intro link on the users info page, and as such would entirely miss anything you'd put here. If people want to leave nice comments in your intro too, they may have posted here unaware that it's not your real intro thread.
A general note though, it's commonly regarded as bad netiquete (and outright against the rules of many forums) to post the same question multiple times as a new topic.
