my University has started turning people with unconditional offers away for accomodation at university.

oxford brookes be the name. so i need somewhere in oxford for maybe a week, would happily pay rent!!

i am currently in Japan, and have landed myself right in it, by booking my flights back only 8 hours before i have to move to oxford from exeter.

i would really appreciate it if you could put me up for 1-7 nights while i frantically fill in paperwork, and rush aroubnd oxford trying to find myslef a place.

if you could help me please call me in japan on 00819017534049 - if that doesnt work try putting a zero before the first 9

or you could call my parents in exeter on 01392 215 846.

please call, leaving a message here is fine, but in such a crazy place as japan i have limited access to the net!!

thank you in advance.

Mr Nate....
You Sir, should know better than an all caps post title.

I would spank you, but I fear you would enjoy it too much tongue2

Good luck with the house hunting. I'd put you up, but commuting Wales to Oxford everyday would be lame. wink

I thought universities have temporary/emergency accommodation exactly for this purpose?

What about youth hostels?

im pretty adiment about not staying in youth hostels in the uk.

and as for universities offereing temporary accommodation in emergency situations....i have no idea, there should be something in place, but i don:t know how long that would be for, and whether it:d be close to campus etc, plus, only been to oxford once for a polysics gig, and i hae no idea what the city is like, or the layout.

also first time living alone, pretty scary censored really.

im sure something will turn up, if anyone can help, its not too late. in japan call me on 00819017534049 - if that doesnt work try putting a zero before the first 9

or you could call my parents in exeter on 01392 215 846.

thanks dudes

Instead of asking us for ideas, I highly suggest emailling the university, and getting information from them about temporary and emergency accommodation, as you obviously haven't bothered doing what seems to me to be the first thing you should have done... Those guys are paid to help you out with this problem, and they're very lovely, and will have all the information and help you need at hand. You're not the first student to experience these troubles. smile

Explain your situation to them, and Bam! Knowledge is power.

As for moving away from Home, it's not really. It's like training pants for when you finally do move into a proper house. You really will have an awesome time. if you can manage travelling in Japan, going to Uni will be a walk in the park.

thanks for taking me for a fool, and actually i have done all of the above, they said they haven't got ANY emergency accommodation for any students, they're suggesting tht students go to b and b's until they can find a more permenant residence

GREAT HELP THEY WERE

they said to look in the private listings for accommodation

i guess ed, that people shouldnt make sharp judgments...hmm?

each uni is different maybe?

Doesn't sound like you looked in to the emergency accommodation at all actually. Maybe you should think for a second before you offend people who were trying to help you.

good point there daddio, i guess i didnt really know much when i wrote the original post, my mum was back in england and she had said that they didnt have any, but would ask again to make sure.

i did do more research, as this was the best thing to do, but now ive ended up paying lots of moolah for a b and b, such is life

dont take things too negatively please, it was in a jokey playful sense, ed is my friend, i wouldnt be mean in any way to the dancing genius.
