Posted: Just wondering what kind of busking or performance routine some of you guys use. Nothing to crazy, but just your combination of different moves and transitions. You can also discuss length of performance, and types of music you use.
This would be very helpful for me! I'm new to starting routines and am thinking of busking or doing small performances.
Posted: I generally set up 10-15 min. worth of music I know I really love to get down to. I don't choreograph a routine ahead of time. I do try to make sure I include things from different angles and level changes (doing things high and low and getting on the ground some).
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

So for the duration, do you have 2 poi? Like one you use, and one on a stand already ready when the others burn out? Or do you stop, soak, and light up again?
Posted: I generally stop, soak and re-light...just because I'm broke and I don't have a 2nd set of poi, lol. Often, I perform/play with others, so when I burn out, they light up and we take turns.

Posted: It all depends on the audience and setting. If we're doing fire its either a fully choreographed show where we know everything that is happening, or we're doing totally improvised stuff in which case I just try to get into the flow. I try not to do any audience interaction with the fire stuff.
For busking or stage performances I have a few different sequences and themes/costumes I will use depending on the audience (so kids get a silly show with lots of laughs while at a juggling convention it gets very technical), but I very rarely have a full routine planned out in advance.
Its all to do with who you're performing to really, and it doesn't need to be stupidly in depth. For instance I did a cabaret performance for a bunch of kids recently (with 2hrs notice) that needed a TV theme, we invented 'Lottery Leonard' and I did some silly juggling with the lottery theme music on, simple and easy but does the trick!
