Fire Staff

By Malcolm Crawshay, Home of Poi
For the ultimate experience with a Fire Twirling Staff, we always recommend the Ultimate Aero Firestaff Kit for your Staff Spinning, available in both Contact Fire Staff and standard styles for Fire Staff Tricks comes with one handle two practice ends, two Fire Spinning Staff ends and all in a carry bag to hold and store it in.
Our all-new revolutionary Aero-style staff designs will cater to all your fire and nonfire spinning occasions.

What is the difference between a Contact Staff and a Standard Spinning / Twirling Staff?

Contact Staffs are usually a heavier staff. This allows for a lot more momentum with spinning and body rolls. The special grip with use on this staff is also perfect for sticking to the body for contact work. A Standard Twirling / Spinning staff is usually a lot lighter than a Contact Staff and are built for speed with a lighter body to them. Our Home of Poi range is all made with a strong hardened aero grade aluminum pole with a black anodized finish for that sleek look while spinning. The aero-Lite version is made for the speed spinners, you can even use the same grip for some contact work making this a great all-around and beginner staff to use.

Do you sell bags and accessories?

Yes we have a carry bag especially made for these breakdown Staffs and all parts for breakdown fusion and Phantom Staffs are also available online just in case one goes missing. You can even purchase just a single fire head end. If you want to switch up to bigger wicks or even double and triple header Staffs we have a massive range to cater to all spinning types with three different handle styles.

Do I get everything I need for an Aero staff in a set?

When purchasing from our site, whatever is shown in the main photo of the Fire Staff is what you will be getting. All Aero Staffs sets come with three or two pieces depending on the staff you are buying and the correct amount and size couplers needed to help join them together. When the Staffs are made in our Aero Staff range, they all can join other Aero parts, or even if you purchase the practice ends, you can buy an extra knob to put on the other end to make a nicely weighted twirling baton. Even join your two practice staff ends together to create a long Staff Twirling baton or practice staff with no added handle.

What benefits do a padded grip have over Leather or rubber grips?

Manufactured with a soft padded grip style handle making for a highly comfortable and durable Contact handle design. This material has benefits over rubber or leather (which can become slippery when fuel or moisture transfer to the handle). Foam handles can soak up fuel, become a fire hazard, and deteriorate faster as a result. Some silicone-designed handles can also become slippery with fuel and, when dry, can sometimes grip too much and pinch the skin or catch hairs on the body with certain contact routines making for an uncomfortable spinning experience.

Do you have a practice style staff for indoor or nonfire use?

Practice Phantom breakdown staff ends are perfect for those non-fire situations but still hold a great effect with holographic tape ends. You can still use these for practice or performance where the light bounces beautifully off the reflective tape ends. Silicone knob ends mean that you can use this inside and protect your tiled flooring and toes you can even bounce these on hard surfaces for an extra cool look and trick with minimal noise.
Breakdown means you can have easy storage and travel, this also means we can have these shipped via standard airmail, meaning much cheaper shipping cost all-round.

Can I travel overseas with my fire staff?

In most cases, if the Fire Staff has been used a lot of customs agencies over the world would not allow this due to the fuel residue or soot left on the wicks. You can remove the wicks if you wish or if you have an aero staff you can simply leave your used heads at home and buy a replacement pair of just heads for travel. You can use them when you reach your destination and never be without your flame. The aero practice staff would also be a great option for this as they still carry the same aspects of a standard staff but are easy and safe to travel with.
We also carry the Fusion fire and LED Staff range. Compatible with the Fusion LED and Fusion Fire range, they can adapt to work together, A kit is available for those spinners wanting LED and fire. These come in a contact version with silicone ranging from tip to tip of the staff, increasing grip for the contact routines. We also have the standard version in which the LED works, all the same. The only difference is a smaller handle grip.

What is the difference between a Fusion Staff and a Fusion Contact Staff?

The only difference between the Contact and Standard Version is the contact version has an extra silicone grip layer that goes all the way from the handle to close to the wick ends, making it perfect for contact work. They are also slightly heavier compared to the standard version. With the LED versions, the actual LED units themselves are exactly the same.

What can I use to charge my rechargeable batteries for my LED staff?

We sell a USB charger perfect for use on most rechargeable batteries; you can also purchase one locally as in-store. We also use a Sony and energizer charger, which work fine also.

Will the Fusion Staffs fit into a Home of Poi breakdown staff carry bag?

The fusion range will also fit into our Home of Poi breakdown staff bags, perfect for travel and storage.

Does the Aero staff range work with the Fusion staff range?

The Fusion range will not work with the Aero range as they are two different designs.

Can I use the Aero Coupler on a Lite and Contact Staff?

Yes, the same coupler will work for both the Home of Poi Aero-Lite and Aero Contact range the only difference is you would need to purchase the correct rings required for each size staff as the Lite version have a larger ring compared to the Contact, which has a smaller ring.

What benefits come from spinning staffs?

Spinning a staff helps with co-ordination, Stress (it's relaxing). It teaches concentration, patience, timing, tracking skills, gross and fine motor skills
As well as the social and creative elements of spinning with your friends.

Looks amazing, solid contact staff
"This staff is amazing, looks great. The mechanism to switch from fire head to practice heads seems a little tricky but I think that s user error and I just need to learn how to use that. Another winner from Home of Poi!!"

Dragon Staff Spare Spokes
"Had a bit of a bauble with some of the spokes and wicks I ordered on my initial staff purchase. The folks here not only replaced them whole, but included them with my order of a backup spoke kit. Got everything in less than 2 weeks. Construction was solid as it ought to be. Looking forward to ordering the Matrix claws when they return to stock."

Ultimate Dragon - Fire Staff with 8 Head Design
7th August, 2020

Dragon Staff review
"Balance and length feel awesome, the hub attachments for the heads aren t the most efficient and there were no directions to connect the 2 parts of the Staff itself together so now it s stuck in one piece which isn t the biggest deal but it can t fit in the transport bag now"
