Hello everyone and welcome to PLAY FESTIVAL 2007!!

Please forgive me for the lack of info, I have no computer to use and it'll be a few weeks more until I'm able to update it more often. I'll come back and put more up as and when I can.

Hopefully most of this info you'll have gotten from our newsletter, if not sign up to it on the website now! www.playfestival.co.uk

We had a wonderful 5 days last year and can only say that 2007 will be even better!

Thanks to everyone who came last year and who gave us feedback on what they thought of the festival, we've taken all comments on board and hope we can make the festival one that you'll enjoy even more than the last.

The dates for this years festival will be Wednesday 25th - Sunday 29th July and we will be at the same venue, Fordhall Farm in Market Drayton, Shropshire. The tickets will be £35 in advance and £40 on the door, that will include most workshops, 4 nights camping, the shows and other entertainments during the festival

We have lots planned for this years festival, more areas to play in with the emphasis on getting everyone involved, we will have a proper go at the world record after last years attempt didn't go so well (although it does look awesome on video!!!) and of course the usual abundance of workshops to keep you all busy in the day.

We'll have two stages this year, the main stage/tent and and nice little caberet tent, a solar powered cinema, a PROPER bar & food tent and a few more folks selling the stuff you want to buy (even if you don't realise it yet! heheh)

New for this year will be the PLAY HOP Amateur Performance of the year. It's a little competition we've come up with that can be entered by anyone for any type of performance. No more than 4 minutes long with a cash prize for the winner and the chance to feature on the next PLAY DVD. As you might guess from the title the event is sponsored by HomeofPoi.com (who have proudly given us the prizes for our games over the last two years). More details will follow soon...

The DVD of last years festival will be out at some point, probably exactly at the time we plan it to come out wink Focusing more on spreading knowledge to learn the arts than the last DVD and we're sure it'll knock your socks off!

If you want to contact us about anything please email us at one of the following addresses:

info@playfestival.co.uk

comments@playfestival.co.uk

volunteers@playfestival.co.uk

traders@playfestival.co.uk

If anyone wants specific footage from last years festival please wait until after the DVD is out, Strugz & co are busy enough editing the full thing to start making cuts for people! Thanks smile

As my internet access is sporadic at best till my pc is up and running, I might not be able to reply to email straight away, if you want to talk to me about anything call me on 07814 018091 and if you don't get an answer LEAVE A VOICEMAIL!

Keep checking the website for the latest information and we'll send out newsletters as often as we can.

hugs & smiles

Dunc hug

Patience is a card game.

As for the DVD, waiting for a few more weeks will surely pay dividends. Maybe play Patience whilst you're waiting? wink

Everyone who wasn't in the van at the time missed the actual van crashing. However there was an amusing re-enactment of the event during the Renegade show on the Sunday night. Which I hope made the final cut biggrin

however, considering it is strugz who is doing the editing, and he was reluctant enough to do the re-enactment, i doubt he is likely to embarrass himself further by including it in the dvd....

at the first play the renegade had a couple or musical performances...

so the renegade is very much a one for all, not desiged to be seperated out into bands, and object manipulation, its a renegade

Having said that, this year I'm running (or at least, currently planning on running) an acoustic jam stage. Probably in the food tent.
Not fully figured out yet, but probably a couple of guitar amps, my drum kit (brushes only!), 2 mics and a low-volume noise limit.
The plan being for people to get up and either play with some mates, or just jam with whoever's on stage.
(Basically I'm hoping for some 3am smokey jazz nights wink )

As I said, details are still being worked out *(By me smile ), but personally, I wouldn't be too happy about leaving my own instrument un-attended for the entire length of the fest for anyone to play - plus there is the side aspects of a) hygene, sharing mouth pieces and b) drunken people thinking they can play wink

Having said that, I'm donating my highly-beloved drum-kit to the stage, though it'll be brushes (or hot rods at most) or it'll be far too loud...
Once all the details are confirmed, we'll make an official post - but I imagine if you want to play a specific instrument (other than a guitar, which we should be able to provide), you'll need to bring it and be responsible for it, we're going to be responsible for £££'s worth of instruments ubblol

ok well my guitar is f**ked and i can't bring my piano... but i can bring my, well, it's not a flute, it's more like a recorder but you play it like a flute...only i can't play it. if someone could teach me how to blow over the hole while i'm there that'd be brill! and i meant that literally, not as an innuendo! only problem is getting around singing and playing at the same time... 'stokes fake beard' it may require some careful thought...

Yeah Reneagde is for sure an anything goes 'Cabaret' but its god I think to keep 'acts' to a reasonable time limit - to allow other 'acts' to get up and do things and to keep people attention and the energy up. If there were really long jams, people that werent neccessarily inot music might wander off and the energy might be lost. It seems to me that having both options of a music jam and a more 'Cabaret' style Renegade would be a good option. After all Muso's want to have the frredom to Jam and freeform for as long as it works and Renegade watchers want a variety of entertainment. Not to say NO music, just to give choice.
But heeh thats just my opinion and experience of whats worked and what hasnt at Renegades ive done or been to.
Peas out
Hoping to make it again this year - Gig cancelled - try to get to PLAY
