hello hello.

my name is Andrew. i guess i'm gonna' tell you a little bit about me so you can see how i became interested and introduced to poi. ehem......

i was born in Washington, USA. i was the youngest of three kids. i had an older brother and older sister. my older brother was 2 years older then me and my sister was 2 years older then he. so, when my older sister got into something....my older brother would always get into it...and then i would always get in to it. we were all really close and still are. anyways.....

when i was 14 i went to my first rave with my older brother. it was pretty fun....i loved the music. me and my brother always used to hangout in a loft are just mixin' jungle and drum n' bass. anyways, around 17 i started going to parties about 3 times a week. it was great. i saw poi at partied but never really thought about giving it a chance. i was totally satisfied with just watching at the time. when i turned 18 i moved to Phoenix, Arizona. i would say probably about 6 months after i moved down there i started going to raves again. once again i was content just watching for the most part. i was always too busy with something else to concentrate on much of anything anyways. about 2 years after i started partying down in Arizona i finally picked up poi.

to be honest though.....i picked up photography first. i got pretty heavy in to photography a month or two before i went poi crazy. i really love photography and one day......

i was sitting in my living room just editing some photos from the rave that night. i had came across some fire poi pictures and though about how amazing it looked. i love fire and how it flickers. fire can be kind of tricky to take pictures of sometimes but the results are always worth the effort. so yeah, one day, sitting in my living room, editing photos, thinking about fire poi.......i decided right then i was going to get an awesome picture of myself doing fire poi. i instantly went online and found a video on how to make your own poi. i went to the local store and bought some Halloween knee socks, balloons, and jasmine rice.

i still remember learning with those. they gave a pretty good whack when you messed up......which was often. first move accomplished was a butterfly and then shortly after a one handed butterfly. i had always been able to do what i believe is called a corkscrew....the up and down figure eight thingy. i had always done it with keys and grocery bags and such. then i kept practicing how to walk and turn while spinning my poi. that one really hurt. i couldn't get the left hand for the longest time. the two places i hurt the most were my nuts, of course, and my eye. i have hit myself in the eye quite a few times with some pretty nasty homemade poi. it frickin' sucks.

nowadays i am back in Washington state. i spend my days in a small little house in a very small mountain town. i am going to be moving back down to the city soon to start college though. ummmmm......i just order some poi from HoP. i order then green sock poi, blue sock poi, and flurple soft poi. i also ordered the beginners fire poi dvd.

let's see.....here are my stats or whatever.

i have been spinning poi for probably close to 2 years now. i really only spun for a few months before i stopped for about 9-12 months though. i would imagine my experience is a lot closer to a year.

i have spun with basic real sock poi, a few different sets of fire poi....some really heavy ones and some really light ones, and also me and my friends like to use stuffed animal heads and shoelaces. we called the animal heads soft poi. i had chicken heads which i obviously called my "chickenheads". they were a perfect wait and fit for me. they were so light it just felt great to spin them around. they also made isolations look awesome. they will forever be remembered, RIP chickenheads.

i can do most basic moves except for orbitals. i have never really tried learning with them. part of the reason i never tried learning was because i had very delicate poi and i didn't want to break them and i always used that as an excuse not to learn them, haha. i was content with the moves i knew and working on improving those at the time.

some of my favorite and most difficult moves i can do are.....

btb crossers, btb ttn, 7 beat weave (barely), neck wraps, double neck wrap (barely), btb 3 beat with extensions, and ummmmmm i love isolations of course. i really want to learn to do an isolated 3 beat weave.

Name: Andrew, also known as fr0g in the rave scene. some girl called me fr0gmau5 because i am somadly in love with deadmau5's beats. i loved the name so i use it online. i prefer to be called Andrew at all times but don't care what i am being called as long as it is nice.

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "Or you wouldn't have come here."
