If you are starting or a beginner at using fire on your fans, remember to make sure you are comfortable with your unlit Fire Spinning Fans on how they move and work with you before lighting them up.What are Russian grip fans?
Russian grip Dance Fans are the ones with a big round loop as a handle. This design allows you to rotate your grip and adjust the fan's position. Some have additional smaller finger rings so the fans will get spun closer to the balance point.
Are Fire Fans suitable for Belly Dance?
Yes, you can use them as belly dance fans used, similar to belly dance silk fans. But you are using fire and, as such, must follow fire safety requirements in a safe environment.
How do you make DIY fire fans?
For those stitching your fan wicks together, remember to make sure your wicks are not too highly tight; being too tight will mean it is much harder to push your needle through, resulting in sore fingers and a lot of extra time taken. We have an instructional video on all fan kit product pages to help prepare your fans for use. Within our Fire Fan kits, you will get 10m of Kevlar® thread and a couple of strongly curved needles. When stitching, you must push the needle into the wick, rotating it as it goes through. If you push the curved needle straight in, it will bend and be harder to get through the wick, and to push too hard will break the needle. Please watch the video on how to stitch the wick. Some people have gone overboard with stitching, doing too many stitches per head, and run out of thread. We usually use about 3m to stitch the ten fire heads on a pair of Fire Fans. But just in case you overdo it we provide you with 10m.
