I was doing some contact the other day when this old lady asked me how the ball sticks to my hand.

I love it when that happens ubblove

Boundaries?

I have none when it comes to CJ. I contact on a bus, walking the street, in lectures, pretty much most of the day.

That's what I think is the only reason I'm able to do what I can today. I never put it down in the past. Slowing down now, though... Only because things are getting difficult to learn...

in au naturel you can get these metal balls - for something chinese, not sure what?- that are amazing for contact juggling, slightly heavier than acrylic, but so much cheaper! the small ones are a pound and the big ones are 3! its class! biggrin

Hmmm...

Something to think about then...

I think I'll practice this one with a stage or RG ball at first... Don't think my face could catch a 100mm metal ball just yet...

just bought a dark blue glass ball for £4 from evolotuion in cambridge. At a guess I'd say it's 2.5 inches across. Lovely feel to it and soooo heavy after my acrylic!

I bought a new acrilic last week and I can't put it down...
Where do you draw the line of when you shouldn't be playing?

Is on the bus ok? Watching a movie? Sitting on the toilet? While on the internet?

I need boundaries people! smile

I could have done with a bondary or two, right now I'm staring at a savage crack on my 2 month old tft. I've also had acrylics bounce out of train doors and onto the tracks, more than once. On an aeroplane, that was'nt level, so it hit the ground and shot of to the back of the plane. It was fun crawling around on my knees, explaining to the stewardess that I'd lost my ball.

I'd say it's fairly open teritory as long as your willing to brunt the consequences. I'd drawing the line at while driving a car though. Theres one boundary for you smile

Well after much love and paranoia trying to keep it safe I picked up my first scratches in Sydney airport.

I wasn't playing at the time...my trolley went over a bump and it came flying out of my bag and rolled 10 metres on a tar road.... I now have several scratches and I'm still distraught.... frown

As a wise man from cj.irg once said, when you get a new acrylic, first thing to do is throw it at the ground and then you wont worry about scratching it anymore.

I was in a park with a few heads once and we were juggling away. A nice shiny unscathed 100mm acrylic in my hands. My girlfrien said dont stand so close to the pavement. I had'nt even finished the sentence "ah no, i'll be alright" and it went flying.
It's strange, no matter how many pillows, or a grassy field or whatever, them seem to be able to home in on the thing that'll do them most damage and head straight for it smile

DSS- at least now you'll be able to practice without worrying about it. Cool poi vid BTW

This is a good idea but I've found that filling with dark sand works a lot better that any other filler. It doesn't leave any empty space and it's much heavier.
